Recently a manufacturer's product line (WWII) has come under extreme scrunity regarding accuracy of scale......Their product seems to most of us to be with-in "acceptible limits" for size and scale......The product is Hi end and very well done, with a high level of realism......Yet some forum members who are K/C loyalists seem to take unfair shots at this particular manufacturer's products.......How accurate is K/C, Figarti etc when it comes to their product lines.....I am interested in knowing what are your most important criteria in determinng what you will and will not purchase.....Please order your criteria in order of most important to least important......Best regards to all.

If this thread ends up being a continuation of the last three scale threads that have been locked it will be deleted.

1)If its WW2 German, there simple oh yeah and made by K+C,Figarti,TG,CSC,HB and NMA(retired)...............:)

Having thought about this a bit more I have to wonder why this post is in the K&C section and not CS or Figarti etc.
Vezzolf makes reference to "K&C loyalists" but I think I am right in that the people who he might put in that category are well documented by their previous posts as buying a variety of ranges of armour. If a forum member makes some perceived negative comments about a particular brand or item it does not mean they are doing so because they favour another brand.
Perhaps this should be under General Toy Soldier Discussion where a previous attempt was made to put it.
Personally I find the scale, rivet counting, hatch measuring etc extremely boring stuff as I am not that knowledgeable that it would concern me.
Regards
Brett

Very well said.

Just because someone makes a negative comment about a product does not mean they are anti that producer.Surely we are all grown ups and are open minded enough to appreciate many companies products, even if we don't collect them.I didn't like Collectors showcase Stugs or Tigers, but really like the Panthers,Marders and Hanomags. So am I anti CS?.Of course I'm not.

Its also both easy and common to be a Flag waver for one company and still enjoy other producers stuff.I've waved the Flag of K&C since I discovered them, but am also enthusiastic about Figarti,Thomas Gunn etc.

Lets try and keep perspective and avoid pigeonholing people with our own perceptions which may be way off the mark.

KEEP THE PLAYING FIELD......"LEVEL and FAIR to all manufacturers"....end of story.........Best regards

As far as scale - nobody is "perfect scale". There are even major arguments on the modeling sites about this kind of subject. As far as the "toy" or "collectibles" I just ask that they look "pretty close" to the item stated. If I want a scale model I go to the 1/35th or 1/48th side of things. As a side lesson, the plastic model companies still don't always get it right. The US tank destroyers are an example - there isn't an M10, M36 or M18 that is "perfect scale". They all have issues with sizes and angles. Every year the "collectibles" get better and better. Driven by customer demand and cometition the models from all the manufacturers look better all the time. Yes, it would be great to have a "common scale" but I don't think that it has ever happened in toy soldiers. Toy soldiers are as much art as science so I think we will always have size variations.

I can handle most of the variances in scale unless there really glaring, my latest issue is with the Styr 1500, the truck body looks fine, I think the Radio housing on the back is small. At the same time I'd be willing to bet the seemingly minor differences in size cost the Manufacturer alot when you extrapolate out the cost of additional material, larger packaging and more expensive shipping cost. I'd also be willing to bet there is a price point for various classes of product where the sales drop off significantly. I'll bet the sales for a popular $129.00 item is much better than for a popular $159.00 item.

I am assumeing Vezzolf is referring to FL. I saw their stuff in person at OTSN and found them to be excellent. I won,t buy them because I have too much money invested in K&C, Figarti, HB and now T.Gunn who's size, no matter what scale you want to call it, is bigger than FL.
I think what really helped Figarti is when a few years back they went to the so called 1-30th scale, for lack of a better term, K&C size.
If FL had been "K&C" size I would have bought them in a heartbeat.

Ein Streit um des Kaisers Bart, literally, an argument about the Emperor's beard, scholars argued so long about whether Barbarossa had a red beard or blond, that it certainly had turned white in the meantime.

Figuratively, it means, much ado about nothing.

Prosit!

Because I collect mainly AFVs, I am more concerned about how the vehicles go together in terms of size. I try to keep displays to one size of vehicle. The early K&C vehicles are generally smaller (roughly 1/32) than the ones they produce today at 1/30. You can do a side by side comparison of the Winter Tiger and the Tunisian Tiger or the 2 King Tigers they have produced to see the size difference. So I would not but two of the same type AFVs together if they were different sizes - it would be too obvious. It's possible to put dissimilar vehicles together (tank, armoured car,half-track, truck) if they were different scales as the size variance can be hard to spot.

It seems that the FL stug is 1/30. The difference is in the figure sizes. K&C figures are large and full figured. Figarti and HB figures are now about the same size as K&C but slimmer. CS and TG seem to have adopted the K&C size as well. FL did not adopt the "K&C" standard. Although their figures are smaller than those of the other manufacturers, they may in fact be more accurate when compared to the 1/30 scale AFVs. As I collect mainly AFVs, if FL produced some 1/30 scale Russian armour, I would be confident it was correctly 1/30 now that I have seen their stug. Sizewise, it would fit with the other manufacturers AFVs. And I likely would get their Russian pieces as no one else is making them right now. Size would be more problematic to those who collect mainly figures as there is a noticeable difference in size.

What are you trying to say with the above statement?

What I am saying is that the "complete deletion" of the thread on the FL forum was unfair to both manufacturer and forum members......Nasir's photos helped myself as well as other forum members to gauge the size of the FL Stugs in regards to the 1:30 scale issue.....I can go along with post deletions that the moderators deem to be necessary but complete elimination of the thread punishes the wrong people in this case.....Would this have been the same action taken on the K/C part of the forum??.....

I will answer that with resounding YES.

I'll take you at your word with that response......In the meantime it would be only fair to allow Nasir's Photos to be made available to forum members IMHO

I only collect Britains so therefor you will not find any favouritism from me. Even within the Britains thread, if I feel it needs to be dealt with it will be.

We hope to have the photos restored soon. I am waiting on the advice of another moderator first.

Thanks

Scott
