I justed wanted to say that if K&C offered an option for box preference...I would pay $10-$20 more per item maybe more (depending on the cost of the item). I love the older red lidded boxes with lift off lids. These boxes seem so superior over the current boxes and for me makes the items appear more valuble. Can we take a poll? or has one already been taken? I haven't been collecting long enough so maybe Im missing something about the beneifts of the current boxes vs. the older lidded boxes?

I like the older boxes. The new ones seem to come apart too easily. Maybe the not enough glue. I however would not want to pay $10-20 more for a better box.

The boxes do need more glue...they do come undone too easily...

I can't imagine they save $10-$20 a box by changing and I would not want to pay more fot the ones with the lids that remove...

I,m just glad K&C did away with those awfull bubble, twister type boxes. And no I would not want to pay more for any type of box.

Couldn't care less about the box, as long as it does it's job of protecting the contents. Brown cardboard is fine, it is the soldiers/vehicles I care about. -- lancer

I like the new designs, but I miss the tartan pattern on the figure boxes. All of them seem to come apart over time.

Ditto. Once it's out of the box, I don't really care about the box.

$10 more?
How many K&C sets do you have now?

I've got 350 K&C sets which would be an additional 3,500$ and I'm paying $50 a month now just to store over 2000 boxes which I don't expect to ever see again ( it's for my wife to sort out some day ).

I agree about the boxes, all they do is take up space!

The box is for is to protect the figure in trasit from HK until it get into the cabinet.

I've got quite a few figures that I bought without boxes and at a good price, just for the figure, so why pay extra for a box if its not needed?

I really like the newer direction K&C boxes have gone with pictures of the piece on them and historical commentary and photos of the actual piece in action. One example would be the WS072 Summer Panther.

If I could chose how the boxes would work, they would have the model number and description on the box fixed on more securely than the small paper model numbers are now. It would also be great if the boxes could be reduced in size with less packing.

Does anyone remember the Collectors Card Sets that K&C did way, way back? They were color pictures of various releases that came in an envelope (large postcard size)-around the time when whey were producing the wooden warbirds & glossy RAF/Luftwaffe sets. I am hoping someone can post some pictures of these. Anyway, my point is that I would prefer generic white boxes or similar and have the extra cost savings go toward unique collectors cards for the respective releases. I do like the present day K&C boxes as they are great looking, but I just happen to prefer a different medium that I could store in a binder and look through frequently opposed to the boxes that are stored out of sight. Thanks for reading.

I like the idea of having some sort of collector's card to use as a reference. If that meant having some plain box I would definitely go for that!

I would be glad to pay an extra $10 for a better box. I don't know about paying an extra $20 though. If an item has a custom box with pictures, I am much more likely to buy it.

I do also like the new boxes with the pictures, and I understand the prevailing attitude of not caring about the box, only the contents. However, I do use the boxes to store my items (no way to display them all at once). So when I do open the closet I do like to see something that is remotely aesthetic.

I would like to see boxes that are just big enough to protect the item contents and not any bigger than that!!! Boxes take up a lot of space and I hate to dispose of them in case of resale or moving.

I would not want to pay extra for fancier boxes... no way!!!

KV mentioned something along these lines at last year's Westcoaster...just something w/ a picture of the figure or set that would help remind us what box went w/ what item, perhaps a small sticker w/ a photo of the item. I'm sure many of us have accumulated a lot of empty K & C boxes, that's for sure. KV's suggestion was met w/ an explanation from Helen about the lack of frugality in adding more steps to the manufacturing process, and would not help keep costs down in a recessed economy. Helen did brainstorm an idea, if I recall correctly, wherein a reference key on the K & C website could be created w/ downloadable images of all all of their sets, so we could essentially make our own identification cards...interesting organizational ideas.

As for the boxes themselves, as long as it protects the contents, I'm happy. I wouldn't want to pay anymore than I already am; it's quite difficult to afford this hobby as it is already, especially w/ all manufacturer's prices creeping up (not a complaint, just a statement of fact). The small single figure boxes do come apart way to easy.
