Somerset Grenadier Guards Camel Corps (1 Viewer)

These are fantastic, the usual one expects from Somerset. I cannot see, from the photos, what the difference is in painting styles that accounts for the rather large price differential. At any rate, these will be a spectacular addition to a time period that is now drawing attention from many manufactures. -- lancer

Very nice. I will plan on picking one up in Chicago this year. I know Clive is very interested in these.

Guys,
It's not just the painting that's awesome, but the sculpting also.
I saw these "in the raw" white metal at Chicago last september, the poses are different, I remember one with the Camel rider tipping his helmet back to wipe his brow for instance.
Also the camels have a range of different poses as well.
Yes Brad, I ordered 1 or 2 (or maybe more) and hoping to pick them up at the Symposium.;)
Regards
Clive

Clive,
I remember our visit to Somerset well in Chicago, how many Camels did you end up getting???????????

I think you better bring a big empty bag to NYC!

Hi Martyn,

Thanks very much for posting the Somerset Camel Corps.

I have been waiting for this release.

You have some nice Camel Corps in your Egypt and Sudan album.

I guess only Trophy and Little Legion made the Grenadier Guards Camel Corps in red jackets.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Hi Raymond

These are great models are they not.

I'm not sure if it was only LL and Trophy who made Grenadier Guards in red jackets but I'm sure a forum member will let us know;)

Thanks for the kind comments about mine. On one of my last visits to Lynn, before he took off on his 3 month Pacific tour:cool:, I purchased 3 Somerset pack camels from him, I will get some pictures taken later.

Cheers

Martyn:)

Tom,

Ron just had unpainted prototypes at the time and I think Clive put in an order.

I'm going to call Ron tomorrow and order the one with the map. It looks fantastic.

Martyn,

You are most welcome. It was a pleasure viewing your albums.

I was not aware that MKL Models stocked Somerset figures.

Did you notice that the officers in the Somerset sets each have a brolly on their saddles ?

Very interesting feature.

Raymond.:)

Hi Raymond

I was at Lynn's in December and spotted the camels at the same time as the Gordon set, unfortunately he does not carry I wide range.

The brolly is a nice touch.

Dear Martyn,

Thank you. I got the idea for the umbrella from Joe Berton's "Major Kitchener, 1894" figure, (1979). The most recent remake of "Four Feathers" also makes reference to the officer's umbrellas.

Yours,

Ron

It is nice to have Somerset weigh in here.

The brollies are a great idea.

Thanks, Raymond.:)

Hi Ron

Great to have you join the Forum.

Ron,

Great to have you here. I purchase at least one thing from you every year in Chicago but I may have to break that habit with the Camel Corps :)

Regards,

Hello Ron. Welcome to the forum. As a customer from way back (1990ish), I am glad you have joined. I have many of your NWF Indian lancers and look forward to your Camel Corps. Still working on some way to get the elephant drawn artillery sets.:D -- lancer
