Odd Batch For Sale...

Very old metal Civil War figures...but I don't think they are rare...

I don't know who these were made by...

I have owned the for at least 20 years...maybe 30...

they are dusty...they sat in my closet the last few years...

Confederate and Union soldiers...37 of them...assorted poses...a few duplicates...

I can take more pictures if anyone is interested...

I'm asking $185.00 "as is" for all 37 of them...$5.00 apiece...

there are some unusual pieces in them and some unique poses too...some artillery crew pieces, a wounded soldier, one with a telescope, one with binoculars, a black youth in uniform...etc...

I put a Jenkins Scot, a Frontline 24th Foot and a Wm Brit 24th Foot in the middle to show a size comparison...

some are "handyman's dream"......hahahaha...a couple missing weapons...but the majority are in very good shape...but dusty...

I was shocked last time I looked at the price of unpainted metal sets...a good painter could do wonders with these...

I would be happy to take pictures in small groups if anyone is interested...

PM me...

Hi, Michael, those are by King-White out of Hong Kong, and sold by Reeves International, among others. Very nice figures, the original "Chinese style" as it were, and stylistically, the grandfathers of King&Country and Frontline.

The Union officer front and center is the casting that I painted up as General Heth from "Gettysburg" for Tom Dubel (http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14991)

You're right, it's an excellent collection of Reeves Civil War figures.

Prost!

Wow Brad...I'm impressed...

I just read the link you posted...

great conversion and paint job...especially the shave and lace on the coat sleeve...

the figure you did for Tom is excellent...

Tom identified these as Reeves for me some time ago...

I don't know what a fair price to ask for these is...

I was hoping somebody would find them reasonable at $5.00 a figure...

it doesn't seem like much for a lead soldier...

while most are in great shape...

ideally it would be to someone that could touch them up a little and use them for really cheap filler on their shelf or diorama...]

some have really unique poses...

they seem a pretty close match in size to the Wm Brits...

I would love to sell them to free up some cash...since you seem to know the Reeve's figures pretty well...could you recommend a price...am I way off base by asking $5.00 a figure...you can PM me if you are uncomfortable posting it publicly...thanks for your info...

Hi Mike,

As the second resident Reeves collector in here, what you have are the Civil War range up to about 24 or 25. $5 is fine to piecemail them. You don't have original boxes, looks like you may have most of the weapons/accessories. The reason I mention up to 24 or 25 is that those are the common ones where they made a ton of them, very popular back in the day and IMO well done. The rest of the range from 26 to 36 are toughies, I still need a few myself!

Good luck on the sale, anyone who gets them, they are well worth it.

Thanks for the comment Tom...

any links on King-White or Reeves you can send me?

I don't have a single box...I'm not sure if they came in a box or not...

it was long ago when I gought them...

I was hoping a Civil War collector might pick them up at this price...

for a painted metal piece...it's pretty cheap.:)

Mike,
your best "links" are right here, Brad and I! Honestly, there is nothing really out there heavy on Reeves. I have a cd of images and old sheets, that's about it. Ask me anything you need on these, I should be able to answer, email me anytime.

Tom...if it's not on the Internet somewhere...then you or Brad probably are the best sources I could hope to find...

I know from talking to you in the past...that you have followed the Reeves figures since your childhood...

I guess I was just curious...maybe wanted to read about them some...

I appreciate you're offering to send me info or answer any questions I have...

I guess I just wanted to know if it was a fair price...high or low...

I'm sure if I was real low...I mean...just giving away something valuable...

you would have PMed me to remove my ad...

thanks for your help...

Brad thank you too...marvelous work on the conversion/repaint...

No problem, I think in a lot that large, the price is right, you could get more if you piecemailed them, but that is more of a project!

the seated Civil War figure looks like a Bustler.

The Zouave up front? Sorry, I'll have to disagree with you, Gideon, I'm pretty sure that's a KW/Reeves figure, too. Though I don't mean to say that Dr. Bussler didn't have a similar figure in his catalog. But from the style of the casting, especially the base, and the rifle (which was the same casting for all eras from the 18th through the ACW, at least), to the style of the painting, I'm pretty sure that's also a King-White piece. I think I have that one around here someplace.

Hi, Michael, I agree with Tom. From a collector's viewpoint, I'd say that $5 apiece is pretty good. And thanks for the kind words on the General Heth piece. It was fun to get a look at the unpainted casting, too, there was a curious mix of detail and lack of detail to the King-White figures.

Prost!

Thanks for the confirmation on the price Brad...I'm gonna post some close-up pics here...give it a few more days...if they don't sell...then list them on Ebay...really appreciate the help in identifying and value...

1st picture...3 figures to the right...weapons lost...

7th picture...Frontline on the left...Wm. Brit on the right...

$5.00 apiece...

You are right Brad.

Bussler had a similar pose in a zouave. But on this one the finish is gloss and the base is reeves type.

My dad met Bussler when I was a little kid and I remember making some kind of deal where pop got several hundred civil war figures all painted and ready to go. That was fuuuuuuuun when he came home that day!
