Hi guys,

Thought I would share one of my more eclectic acquisitions - collector Modified Hannibal Elephants!! What a bargain for these heavy metal elephants, they feel and look like Lezinski Elephants I have, but I hope they are copies, b/c it is a mortal sin to modify Lezinski ones! The other 2 are some type of metal/composition. All in all a heckuva buy at $10 to $15 each! Enjoy, the collector did a great job, these are older.

2nd recent acquistion is from the craftmanship of Pestana. I bought these from his daughter, Professor Pestana made very small one off sets, a lot of them were in the Forbes collection when it was auctioned. Here is a unique Airplane set:

I swear Tom has the most varied collection of anyone I know. He knows of brands I never heard of.

I am nuts, I have a bad habit of buying what tickles my eye at the moment. Most of the time I am happy later on, but I have to admit, there are times, I even shake my head in wonder. I swear I dont have a drinking problem either, I am not a late night half looped ebay bidder!!!!!!

Anyhow, the Pestana is wood!

Speaking of planes, I also have the Tommy Atkins Red Baron Plane I want to dig out sometime, it is fantastic.

I missed buying a DB Figurines Red Baron plane which I am still kicking myself over. You can't get it all, but some hurt!

Hi Tom

All I can tell you is the right elephant looks to be Britians Indian zoo elephant and the middle one Britains young zoo elephant. Are there any of the pour holes in these animals? If so I would say they are original if not, copies so no harm done.

You are correct, the Britains elephants are the modified zoo elephants with holes!

The other 3 are very similar to an expensive set of INdian Battery Lezinski Elephants I have (which I didn't even know I had! until I saw a friend's collection and he indicate how expensive they were). So who knows, like I said, it was a fun acquisition and they are kind of cool at the price.

I gave the Tommy Atkins Red Baron Plane, which I had bought from Classic Toys back in the day, to my nephew. It really isn't all that great.

I should clarify my statement, I like it from a look viewpoint, I am assuming you are talking historical detail? I would agree it is not that great on that, but I still think it is a neat piece b/c of the handmade, etc of the cottage industry.

The elephant with the trunk pushed behind, I believe, is from an old german maker - I don't remember the name.

The smaller elephant looks like a Britains. Not sure about the other.

Will you be giving tours of your collection anytime soon??? I'm in Eastern Shore Maryland (Chestertown) pretty frequently. I can bring good beer!

Oh, are you going to do a post on the Fusilier vehicles any time soon?

One day on the tour!!

As for Fusilier, I will be doing photos soon, hopefully next weekend I can dig them out and put up some pics of some more oddities. I have a large Canal Boat I will do first.
