I've been following the progress of this movie a long time.. Very much looking forward to it.. Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian and Scott Grimes as Will Scarlett... You can see the trailers and photos at:

This looks to be a well done version. I like Crowe in just about everything I have seen him in. Still partial to the classic Errol Flynn version but the new one will certainly be a lot better than that hideous Costner version. -- Al

Lanver: I agree. That Costner version was TERRIBLE and almost an embarrasment to the Robin Hood name. No one will ever beat Flynn's version, but this new one looks like it will have alot of action. I didn't see any of the other characters, am wondering if this might be a pre-quil to the normal story?............Stryker

While I think that the world needs another Robin Hood movie about as much as the US needs more congressmen, at least this one looks tolerable. The Costner version was an abomination. "Robin Hood, Men In Tights" was better than that one. One of my favorite tellings of the tale was "Robin and Marion" where we looked at the end of the story with a fine cast.

They're all there: Robin, Maid Marian, Allan A'Dayle, Will Scarlett, Friar Tuck, Prince John, King Richard, Sheriff of Nottingham.. looks like Guy of Gisbourne has been replaced by a Sir Godfrey.. They even have William Marshall (played by William Hurt)

I agree - love Errol Flynn version - despise the Costner version...

I'm very hopeful and the world can always use a new, good version of Robin Hood!

It looks like it will be an action packed movie. I'm not too sure about the mid-evil Higgins boats though. It is Hollywood so we must endure these little anachronisms.

I think it looks good but then i do like Ridley Scott Movies.
Crowe is only about 43 so not that old......this might sound bias but i would prefer Crowes accent over Costners Hollywood accent for the part.

They didn't live that long. Too top that off Blanchett doesn't
have enough tit for Maid Marion.

This will be a box office bomb. The demographic is 18-30 males.

Actually I beg to differ. Some did live that long and Robin was hardly a boy when he returned from the Crusades. In any event, the age of 46 for a well cared for Hollywood star is probably more like 30 or less for the average medieval knight.

It may or may not be a bomb but Master and Commander did extremely well. I think it just depends on how good it is.

Couldn't agree more Stryker,Costners version was crap,at least men in tights was meant to be funny!.

One of the funniest thing in Costners version was when he landed at the white Cliffs of Dover,he set off for Nottingham on foot saying we will be there by nightfall....a distance of over 200miles!.Better start jogging Robin!

Yo Trooper, your spot on mate, and didn't want to pose, but will have to I suppose I was in the Movie (serious) Starred Patrick Bergin & Uma Thurmann, did some work as an extra was out of work at the time. They used Beeston Castle in Cheshire for the movie. Uma asked me out but slapped her off lol.
The thing with Robin Hood and its one of those real English favourites we grew up with the story, nobody has ever done it serious, its always comic like, and make out the Sheriff Of Nottingham was a fool, but did enjoy Alan Rickman in the Costner version he is a class act. So will look forward to this version I like Russell Crowe always comes across well to me in his movies.

It certainly wasn't common, but people could and did live long lives in medieval era. William Marshal lived to be 73 and served 4 kings.. I'm actually surprised that a movie hasn't been made about him - though the character is in the new Robin Hood movie.. He was considered the "Perfect Knight."

I don't believe the movie will be a bomb.. Gladiator did quite well as I recall. But time will definitely tell...

Can't agree about Alan Rickman as the sheriff.. he was much to cartoonish.. should have played it more straight up - would have been more convincing (in my opinion).
