Did any of you purchase any King & Country low priced "Buy It Now" items from the friendly camera man in California? I took a chance and swung away and had to laugh when the two sets arrived-the "rattle & roll" from the box was a dead give away. Two perfectly good sets completely ruined. Looks like he already burned one individual via his feedback and I am sure there will be more to come based on the number of sets he had listed. He stated that he could not combine shipping yet jammed everything in one box which cost $12.45-I was charged $31.40. Three soldiers hugging each other with nothing to blanket the poor chaps resulted in "metal shed"! In his listing it stated that you had to request insurance (as he could not be responsible for damage) which I did on both items yet they were not. I will give you a heads up-he is not the friendly/family seller that he advertises to be but a hostile individual. The Resolution Center is already involved but he has not yet responded via that forum. He does not have any more toy soldiers listed so this looks to be an isolated skirmish! I will post an update on this fiasco as it develops. Rest assured the negative feedback will be donned at the end of the mediation.

It always pays to know your seller, and check the feedback.

Especially in todays marketplace with new people showing up daily.

He was at 100% with a rating North of 130 since c. 2007 but I have a feeling he will be a whole lot lower shortly. I still knew I was taking a chance but hopefully the RA Center will enable the funds to be refunded shortly!

It's weird...he responded with a negative comment against a guy who left him a positive claiming his feeback has been ruined bacause of the guy who left a positive???...the postive feedback says: "FAST SERVICE"...the negative comment left by the cameraman say: "BAD BUYER! - MY FEEDBACK WAS PERFECT UNTIL THIS GUY CAME AROUND-NEED I SAY MORE?" I don't get it?

That's a shame. You'll get your money back including shipping but paypal will likely request that you send the items back - so you'll be out the shipping.

Why do any of you bother with sellers who clearly state that they cannot combine shipping for you? Really, it's a scam if they say they can't.

When you invoice somebody, if the buyer has bought multiple lots, there is a clear link "combine purchases". You click that, you adjust the shipping amount to reflect the greater weight and that's it - invoice sent.

I thought about the insurance thing but its pointless. If something arrives damaged, the buyer has possession but doesn't want to deal with the claims process. So, the buyer files a dispute and is instructed by paypal to send the item(s) back to the seller. The insurance the seller may have purchased is now void and seller can't make a claim on items re-shipped in damaged condition.

One thing that really has worked for me with ebay is the paypal buyer protection. I bought a wood planer that arrived damaged and sent it back to the seller after informing paypal. Even though it appeared the damage was done by UPS, as soon as he signed for the return my account was credited. This guy sounds stupid. It's a shame the figures had to pay the price for his crookedness.

I agree, please let us know who this is exaclty so we can all avoid him.
I can't believe he shipped those figures in such a poor manner.

It is done! As eBay put it...
Final decision:
This case was decided in your favor.

Well, both cases for that matter-which means I was refunded the purchase price & original shipping fees. I am responsible for shipping it back. The seller never even bothered to respond then had the audacity to ask for feedback retraction after accosting me via the rebuttal portion. After eBay decided in my favor he was willing to offer a partial shipping refund after initially saying "just send it back" followed by "I am having eMail trouble. Funny thing is that all the messaging was via eBay. So, in the end I am out a total of $11.45 but hopefully this unprofessional individual will earn himself an eBay suspension.

You should have sent it C.O.D.

Too bad you had to deal with such an idiot

Marc,
Glad to see you got the majority of you money back, really don't understand someone who can run a seemingly successful business and not care/understand the basics of packaging???
Unfortunately I've had the same thing happen though usually from someone who just doesn't have a clue.
Nice to have a recourse.

The last time I had a packaging issue it was with a return where I suspect a buyer wanted only one of a two figure set. He swore up and down that he didn't receive the second figure when I knew full well he did.

I knew he'd open a dispute so I figured if he returned the other figure to me I could provide a refund and hopefully resell the other piece.

He sent the other figure back thrown into ill fitting foam packed in a fedex mailing envelope. The figure arrived damaged and this guy went on and on about how well it was packed.

I refunded him for one figure instead of both but looking back at it now I shouldn't have. But, sometimes standing up for ones principles takes a lot of time and energy. You really have to pick your battles carefully.
