Since the official contest was nixed here is my own completely non-scientific choices representing the opinion of one collector.

Best Vehicles (by manufacturer):

New Model Army: Sturmtiger (summer version). NMA demonstrated they can produce a KC quality vehicle with this one. The figures are not bad either and the fact that Blake threw in a one of kind prototype figure for me makes it all the sweeter. Let's hope they keep them coming in '07. The winter version was a bit of a disappointment though.

Honour Bound: Winter Panther. Everything that HB has produced is fantastic but this one really knocked my socks off. I give it an edge over the field kitchen and bergepanther mostly because of my preference for fighting vehicles but can't say enough about the "realness" of the HB WP and the accompanying figures are great as well.

King and Country: KC produced so much that it is hard to decide (and I admit not seeing the new Sherman), but I would go with the Panzer Meyer command vehicle. I know a lot of folks scoffed at the limited edition run of 1200+ and it probably hasn't sold out, but as a display piece it looks fantastic. I had never even heard of "Panzer Meyer" so give credit to Andy for going (somewhat) out of the mainstream.

Figarti: Tiger. They were the talk of the Chicago show and the limited number of other Fig vehicles easily puts this at the top of their list.

Best Overall Vehicle: Honour Bound Winter Panther. HB set the standard by which I measure everything else with this one. Enough said.

Best Figures:

King and Country. Outside of the expensive Russian/St. Petersburg figures - which are hardly ever mentioned here although they are the best of the best - have to give it to KC. Excellent quality, variety, and reasonable prices. KC produced so many nice sets that I can't pick just one.

Most Improved Company:

Patriot. I don't collect them but the recent figures appear to be a quantum leap for these guys.

Best Innovation:

Figarti Tiger. An interesting idea making the interior - although it is not entirely clear to me how best to display it. The price is a downside but they clearly struck a nerve in the industry and seem to be generally good guys.

Best New Figure/Line Sets:

Britains WWI. They were out in front of the WWI mania and their WWI figure sets are the best that I have seen from Britains in a long time.

Best New Manufacturer:

Honour Bound. These folks came out of nowhere and opened my eyes to what is possible in this hobby with the release of the Barkmann Panthers.

Best Overall Manufacturer:

King and Country. KC was lagging early in the year and Honour Bound embarrassed them a bit with the quality of their vehicles, but how can you knock the large number of quality sets, vehicles, and new lines? KC is still tops in my opinion although the competition has narrowed the gap considerably. Kudos to Andy and Company for keeping them coming ontime and in bulk. No small task where every other manufacturer seems to be behind schedule with new releases. Also the KC marketing approach has been great in providing information on upcoming releases to collectors through the mag and brochures - which must cost a great deal to produce. I'm consistently amazed at how amateurish some of the other manufacturers are in this regard even in the use of inexpensive marketing tools like their own websites.

I agree with virtually everything you said except I would put the Figarti Tiger as the best overall vehicle. Otherwise excellent calls across the board.

Great idea for thread Combat, my selection are below and of course some are different then yours. Isn't America great, we have choices....

4 Man Mortar Crew: I think it's great dispite the fragility

Not question here: The Barkmann Panther's, the ones theat shock the industry and they're perfect with the machine gun mounts that you get through Treefrog Treasures via special request

Ask 100 people on this one and you'll het a 100 different answers thanks to the quantity, quality and creativity of Andy. My favorite is (believe it or not) AK27 10.5cm DAK Howitzer and artillry team.

Figarti
: Tiger. They were the talk of the Chicago show and the limited number of other Fig vehicles easily puts this at the top of their list.

For me, this is one is a tie between two very different sets, they are:
- LVT 4 Landing Craft (#A3214), and
- US Marines Take a Breath (#A4058)
Very nice improvement over the past year with this company

Best Overall Vehicle: Honour Bound Winter Panther. HB set the standard by which I measure everything else with this one. Enough said.

Tough one here, frankly there are too many to choose from and I think I have them all. That's a good thing because I don't prioritize well.

I'll go with HB's Barkmann's Panther nudging out KC's Limited Edition Sherman. Man, Andy just doesn't allow anyone to stay ahead of him long. Isn't competition great!

I completely agree, however some of the other companies are catching up with there own style. Notably Britians/ ONWTC and Conte is they could lighten up the heavy shadowing in their WWII painted figures. However, like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder.

Most Improved Company:

Patriot. I don't collect them but the recent figures appear to be a quantum leap for these guys.

Figarti 1st then Britains

Best Innovation:

Figarti Tiger. An interesting idea making the interior - although it is not entirely clear to me how best to display it. The price is a downside but they clearly struck a nerve in the industry and seem to be generally good guys.

Agreed

Best New Figure/Line Sets:

Britains WWI. They were out in front of the WWI mania and their WWI figure sets are the best that I have seen from Britains in a long time.

KC's EA14 "Indian Army Machine Gun Set", I love the bid improvements made from the others (Britains, ONWTC, Figarti, etc.) but KC is still leading the pack.

Best New Manufacturer:

Honour Bound. These folks came out of nowhere and opened my eyes to what is possible in this hobby with the release of the Barkmann Panthers.

The key word "new", then I agree with you HB has my vote.

Best Overall Manufacturer:

Agreed, they are still the "2-ton guerilla" in the industry and continues to earn there spot as number 1 but innovative competition has truly made this time a renaissance period for collector.

I'll do a Carlos and list my choices in another color.

I have to go for the sandbagged Sherman set because the Panzer Meyer halftrack has such crappy tracks.

Figarti: Tiger. They were the talk of the Chicago show and the limited number of other Fig vehicles easily puts this at the top of their list.

Absolutely

Best Overall Vehicle: Honour Bound Winter Panther. HB set the standard by which I measure everything else with this one. Enough said.

Agree

Agree - BUT Figarti are consistently improving their tanks, and their figures.

Second prize to K & C for starting to fix those tracks :)

Best Innovation:

Figarti Tiger. An interesting idea making the interior - although it is not entirely clear to me how best to display it. The price is a downside but they clearly struck a nerve in the industry and seem to be generally good guys.

Who could argue

Best New Figure/Line Sets:

Patriots new Napoleonic range - bloody terrific detail

Best New Manufacturer:

Honour Bound for their great polystone tanks.

Figarti for terrific tanks, and the one to watch for 2007 imo because they are keen and innovative

Best Overall Manufacturer:

It's difficult not to choose King and Country because their range is so wide and the overall quality is so good. However they still have some track problems, and also some figure size and production number issues.

Nice job Doug. In my opinion, the Field Kitchen was the best this. It was brilliantly conceived and executed. One of my favorite pieces.

Best K&C vehicle - The Hummel

Best K&C figure set- The DAK Howitzer

Best NMA- The Desert 232

Best Honour Bound- The Winter Panther ( though I don't actually have one)

Best Figarti - The Tiger I

Best Britains- The Kettenkrad with fallschirmjagers and scenic base

Best overall product - The Figarti Tiger I ( take off the top and the detail just blows everything else away. I think this will be a one off experiment but a great one nonetheless)

Your list is hard to argue with Easy, we have been spoiled this year, and I'm looking forward to 2007 :)

Can't say as for vehicles. Not into that era of any kind at this point.

Patriot very nice figures in the Napoleonics range.

But just for the sheer quality of figures. I have to throw a big yippee at the Santa and Drummer Boys by K&C

Best K&C vehicle - The Hummel

Best NMA- The Desert 232

Best Honour Bound- The Winter Panther ( though I don't actually have one)

How about a cutaway Figarti Sherman? Would that be a gotta have? Michael

Here my vote

Best K&C vehicle - The Hummel

Best K&C figure set- The DAK Howitzer

Best NMA- The Strumtiger

Best Honour Bound- The Field Kitchen was the best

Best Figarti - Japanese 150mm cannon

Best Britains- The Kettenkrad with fallschirmjagers

Best overall product - The Figarti Tiger I

It looks like they are all well thought out lists but
As I can only vote for what i,ve seen in person.

Best vehicle - K and C ambulance jeep set [I know its only a jeep but both
the jeep and the figures are superb]

Best Figure set-I,ll add my vote to the dak howitzer

Best Britains set-scots fusiliers defending the colours

Best company-In my book it has to be K and C ,They always seem to deliver on time, monthly updates of product releases and their product range and quality is constantly improving.

I'm a little surprised that the DAK howitzer is so popular. It's a nice piece but would not have picked it as the best.
