Cheers for the link. Its a great ship and a lovely model (sounds a bit insincere for what it really is)

Great link... I am sure it would be a major commitment in time to build this, but it would be a beautiful model.

I was looking around too, and thought this was interesting...

Well after Andy's comment (which I thought was a bit harsh) and building a frigate like HMS Surprise I thought I would go digging and came up with this....

:eek: Just need the cash and skill to build it :eek:

Says they are in 1:24 scale.
I thought so too.:( As I said in one of the Victory threads, nothing against that model or Nelson but I rather fancy the frigates more and the Surprise was the example I happened to give. It certainly offers a greater market potential given the difference in size and presumably, possible cost.

I like the look of Frigates more as well, but couldn't you have chosen one with some long guns and not just carronades? ;)

Terry, I think any Frigate would be a nice choice. Surprise has name recognition and is featured in one of my favorite book series and movies. There are many other great options including a 38-gun fifth rate frigate like HMS Lively with 18 pounders. The Lively class was the most successful British frigate of the wars. Much bigger than that though and you may as well do a ship of the line.;)

Outstanding model! That would be an amazing piece to sail about, if you had the cash. I would tend agree on the Suprise as well. I think that might have been a better choice for collectors, if for no other reason than the name recognition.

Now that I'm thinking of it, if there would just be another "Master and Commander film".....
