Rob...

I am in a similar position with my in-laws who are also very generous. Its indeed a good position to be in rather than clothes and aftershaves!!!

Luckily, there's only a handful of the AE that I want from this lot. I suppose as they've been around for a good few years (one of the attractions of the range), they are going to cop for some of the greater price hikes. I'll be picking up the bits I need in the next month or so.

Man am I being pressed here on this one- hope he announces some retirements real soon on this line- how many times have I said that before?? :D:D

On the flip side, the AWI figures didn't jump up- I'd like to get the Continental field gun some time in the future so it's good to see that didn't shift.

Obviously no one likes price increases and some sadly will free the pressure more than others but I have to say that I have thought that some items on that list were underpriced in today's cost environment. Of course it doesn't matter so much what people think and even less what a small subgroup like the vocal members of this forum think. What matters to sellers is how their margins are affected by the changes. No cost recovery, no product.

Oh no! I view this list as a retiring list and I need about 10-12 pieces on it! If I get these before the deadline I calculate savings of approximately $200USD. The BBG/WS lines are what's hurting me the most. Some tough decisions to make in the next little while. :(

I am sorry but does any person in the right state of mind actually look at product prices and state they seem to be underpriced? Who goes into shops and states hey! this is way to cheap for today's economic state????

The lack of empathy for those collectors who are struggling to stay in hobby they love never ceases to amaze and sadden me.

I do think a small subgroup (which is a form of labelling to a percieved lesser group or, it was when I studied sociology) should have meaning and who is really to say its a small group where are the facts that those who have raised concerns are small??? and, even were the alleged group to be small their voice is as important as those who seem not to care about what happens to areas which they either have no concern about or an interest in collecting.

Everybody should have the right to voice their concerns

Mitch,

Of course I agree everyone should have their say, its what makes this forum interesting and fun.

However I think it comes down to this. No one wants price rises that is clear. Some may well leave/ give up the hobby, I suspect the majority will not. I do think a few weeks after Christmas this will all be forgotten and we will be talking about new releases etc. Of course the point of view of the small group is important, and I don't think anyone will dismiss it as otherwise, but the other opinion is also as valid. I don't think anyone can feel guilty because someone else is giving up, we all have to make our own decisions based on our own choices and budget etc.

Just my thoughts:)

Just got the sniper set as a pressie from my inlaws, they came back from the US on the Queen Mary so baggage weight wasn't an issue, so they got me these while they were at it (god bless em!)

Got my list on Saturday. One or two things I'm after, can't let that Grey Kubelwagen go by the same goes for the SAS Jeep. Did I read somewhere that these items are likely to start retiring next year?. So a slight alteration in my London show purchase plan, but who cares, its all good!:)

Rob

But if these items are retiring next year why whack the prices up as a last goodbye? Why not just phase them out for new versions over a few months? Very strange.

I see the Jagdpanzer is on the list James, is this one you will be after in London?

To spur sales of older in-stock items, especially slow sellers. If only some of the prices were going up, collectors would focus on buying those before year end and leave the ones without price increases until later.

I thought about it but decided I'll go for the Snow Tiger in London. That'll be a good special purchase.
