Hi Guys,

Here is something I always enjoy discussing. Why do you have that one set in your collection that is a single representative from a company. For instance my collection is mainly Britains and Marlborough focusing on the Indian Army and the Great Durbar of 1903. But I have some single figures that are in the mob that are the lone represetatives of that company and era sitting on display. So for me that one set I have on display is and WWI Camel Mounted Trooper from a very small company I found in Austraila while visiting on my honeymoon in 1995. I got him pruely because he was cool looking and he was pretty much the only WWI camel mounted trooper I had seen. So he sits in my collection enjoying the company of many other troopers.

So what do you all have hiding in your collections? What is your one set wonder?

Dave

This is my Sgt. Bourne figure made by Minimen circa 1974. It is the only figure I have by this retired manufacturer. The base gives useful information on the figure which many other figure bases do not.

About 10 years ago I saw a Heco Tinplate Models Tiger Tank on ebay (ending in like 5 minutes), with no bidders yet and a starting bid of $80. Back then I only collected K&C, but I had always admired the Heco stuff in Gideon's shop, Classic Toys, back in the 90's. I figured what the heck, for $80 I'll get one Heco piece for my collection.:rolleyes2:

Now I have more than 70 Heco items!{eek3}{sm2}{sm3}{sm4}

My one set wonders tend to grow . . .:wink2:

Hi Scott,

I will have to let you know because he is packed in a moving container right now while I get my office room squared away and get my oldest boy moved into my old office so he can have a room of his own with out the 3 year old brother pestering him...

Louis you are a lucky guy a Heco Tiger for 80 bucks is about the best deal I have heard about in a long time.

Dave,

Is the Imperial Camel Corps Camel and trooper made by Pearce Miniatures?

It looks slightly different to the one shown here on Craig Pearce's site-

http://www.wilsonedward.com/2011/06/pearce-miniatures-by-aussie-andrew.html

I bought one of these for my father's collection several years ago and I agree it is a great piece that is admired by many.

Scott

Scott,

the camel you are showing is the Pearse Miniature one, but since the sad passing of Rick Pearce, the compamy has folded. Fortunaely Craig Pease has access to some of the moulds.

Here is may painting of the Pearce camel

and the Wison Edwards camel
Tom_Ex.jpg

which has much more realistic camel in my opinion.

In the spirit of a "one of" model, as opposed to a soldier, I have a Dawn Patrol SE-5. It is a 1/32 scale WW1 aircraft that is made of brass and resin and is basically a museum finish type of model. Different versions were made with SE-5's representing aircraft flown by Mannock, Bishop, and one or two others, but I only saw and purchased the Bishop version. These were, for the time, very expensive models so the one version is all I ever got. It is a gorgeous model and the pride of the collection I have put together. -- Al

Hi Sandor,

What incredible luck! The Village Idiot is an exceptional find. Congratulations! Your luck demonstrates it pays to explore all options in the neverending search for quality figures.

Do you have a photo of the Idiot you would be willing to share with us? I would love to see it.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Hi Sandor,

I am still dumbfounded by your luck. There is no telling what you will find in Bavaria. Whatever it is, please share it with us. ^&grin

I will patiently wait to see the photograph of your Village Idiot. Needless to say, I look forward to viewing it.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

I just got back from Linderhoff and Neuschwanstein, and I have to say, I have decided to spend the rest of my life hiding in Linderhoff, basking in the glory of a solid ivory chandelier and....and....so much more{sm3}!

Here is another single figure I found (this time on eBay, for $7): the Britains AWI "Valley Forge Figure". I have no clue what the "deal" is on this set, as I have not seen it in any catalogue....can anyone give me a clue?
Thanks,
Sandor:salute::

One single figure I have, and it sure is all by itself, is a "Flat" depicting Frederick the Great. It is an item I am very proud of to own, as it was sent to me unexpected by a fellow forum member who got some K&C WWII figure sketches from the 2009 Chicago Toy Soldier dinner event from me.
