Bizarre E-Bay Dilema (1 Viewer)

That's the magic of E-Bay. The buyer can be delinquent paying by weeks paying but has the seller by the B_ _ LS....{eek3}

Sandor and Tom, I don't know the guys user id here on the forum. I'll try to find the ebay id. I have to dig out an old pst file on an external hard drive to find it.

I'll look up the link I posted his message to and send it to you guys once I find it.

He was a real piece of work. A few screws loose with him to say the very least.

My illustrious buyer now claims to paypal 17 days after he received the Alamo set RTA034 minus the Bowie fig as listed that now one of the rifles on one of the Mexican soldiers is "broke in half" and wants his money back for the set. How convenient. I took the claim and opened a dispute as the seller. This buyer got the items delivered on 15 July and never mentioned any damage !!!! I knew before hand to put insurance on this clowns box to counter this very sly move. More to follow.....

All you can do is get him to send it back & refund his money I'm sorry to say :(

And many of you guys talk to me at shows and wonder why I don't use Ebay to sell the retired sets I'm always coming into.

I'd rather sell something to a good customer for far less than I could get for it by peddling it on Ebay than sell it to some stranger and have it blow up in my face.

One of my customers told me he sold a WS 02 to a guy, the guy got it and said one of the figures was damaged and wanted his money back, so he refunded the guys money and when the set came back, the damaged figure clearly was not the one he sent.

It was not because he marked the bottom of the base with a red paint dot and it was not on the figure; so the wonderful Ebay buyer swapped out the sellers non damaged figure for a damaged one he had on his end, now the guy is out the money and the set is worthless.

No thanks to that nonsense...............

When I had the shop in NYC, Steve Balkin up at Burlington Arcade carried Guard Corps and Imperial same as us and at the same price.

So a guy used to come into our shop with some frequency with sets that had Balkins price tag on them saying he bought them from us and how he wanted his money back.

Telling him to take them back to Balkin was meaningless to this jerk. So then he wanted an exchange.

I just kicked him out. Told him not to come back.

This hobby is full of nasty people who will do anything they can to please themselves and screw over sellers, other collectors, etc. It's not just on eBay. It happens in the brick and mortar shops all the time, it happens to the web businesses, it's every where.

I got to thinking that having the brick and mortar shop in NYC was eventually a magnet for some of the most self centered, obnoxious and rude people you could ever imagine encountering. As much as I miss the shop, there are parts of it I don't miss at all. Sometimes I encounter somebody like this on the internet and I can just hit the ignore, ban or block button and they don't annoy me anymore.

The best we can do in these situations is share the user id of the person who wronged us and stop the bs.

So, please pm the user id of the person who did this to you.

Not everyone is like that but unfortunately we all get tarred. Sometimes you have to take it on the chin as the cost of doing business.

The pleasures of E-bay. I have never used it nor will I and, your stories just emphasise to me that I am right in that stance.

Well, I have over 900 transactions on ebay already and only had five issues with buyers AND seller.

Without eBay I wouldn't have been able to complete some of my impressive collections :smile2:

I had issues with buyers who didn't read the item description propper and seller who never sended the item - but refunded the money and put the item back on ebay for a higher asking price !

Hi Mitch,
I am on ebay as a buyer and seller since 2001 with a 100% positive feedback of some 2800.
Never had a transaction that couldn't be handled politely and for the benefit of both sides.
Cases mentioned here, are always struggles to deal with. While I consider myself lucky so far, I do want to point out that ebay does offer a lot of opportunities too, for both sides, buyers and sellers.
Where else can you have a global audience look at an item you offer to sell or where else can you browse a list of 1000's of Toy Soldiers offered.
I sure feel the annoyance of members who had or keep having bad experiences, but am very glad on the other side that ebay is around and available.
