Tigers, Panthers, old & new (1 Viewer)

I'll second that.Whilst its good to discuss what we like what we want etc,we should take time out now and again to say how much we appreciate all the effort that goes into making the worlds best toy soldiers. We have to remember that the people behind the scenes are not faceless machines and its nice to pass on that we love their product.

So its a big thumbs up to Andy and the team and keep up the good work.

I have the first generation polystone Tigers & Panthers, WS023, WS025, etc.

How do the newer models compare in size? The King Tiger which I recently bought seems to be in a smaller scale than these earlier models, yet the new Jagdpanther is about right compared to my old Panther. So I'm wondering, how do the newer Tiger I's (new Winter WS070SL, 2nd Wittman WS043, etc.) & Panther WS059 compare in size to their older siblings?

(No need to bring the WS015's into the conversation-I have those too)

I agree Blowtorch, and I have noticed this as well. And it's good that Andy C intends to address this issue and produce larger moulds of the relevant tanks and vehicles. I guess they would need new moulds in any case because of the improved tracks/roadwheels.

Relative scale size may not be an issue to some collectors but there are plenty of people that consider correct sizing a VERY importantant issue with collectable models.

However it has been noted that non WWII K & C pieces are more often than not in 1/32 scale these day. If their WWII range is heading towards 1/32 I feel most collectors would want to know sooner rather than later.

Oz, I don't think that's the case, so no need to worry. I did some quick width measurements on the items I mentioned above, and they are coming out 1/30 -1/31. It's that earlier Panther that's on the larger size...boy do I love that one. My favorite piece ever. It's just so manly looking. :p

If people were not happy with K&C, they would:

a) cease buying their products

b) put their energies into other activities & cease participation in this forum

Honestly, I don't think you are doing Andy any favors by reacting like this to an honest product question. I think all you have done is to raise suspicion now by an order of magnitude

IMO - we have too much wants and not enough THANK YOU's and that goes for all of us.

So saying THANK YOU - shouldnt be viewed anyway other than saying Thank You to the people who work hard to bring us the products.

I take your point of course. However some of us on this forum have grown a little tired of endless moaning over recent months and have tried to steer things in a more positive course. Not denying anyones right to their opinion its just nice to talk up the good things more often. But each to their own.

I think that it is great that K/C has been downsizing their WW2 vehicle scale. It has allowed me to buy more of the other mfg. stuff while selling off K/C stuff, since they are all reletively the same fit now......the only reason some of the other forums exist is to escape this constant K/C rah,rah on this forum...If people cannot ask scale questions, detail questions ,without being labeled as a negative vibe poster, then what is the purpose of an open forum ,if some wish it only to be a particular company's never ending advertisement....Michael

Absolutely. But in the same vein as everyones entitled raise questions, everyones entitled to sing praises as well.I also think to be fair if people hear endless moaning over a sustained period of time, some people will tire of it and start to speak up.And they have every right to in my opinion.

Michael

No one is begrudging anyone about their opinion - its getting very old on the long lists of do this or do that.

How about a great job every now and then on what has been done - thats all I am saying.

Ron

This is an open forum. People here are entitled to raise any opinion they think is valid. I think Michael and Oz raise some good points and I don't think any manufacturer just wants praise for their ideas but some critical appraisal as well. Constant evaluation is what keeps us all on our toes. If you want to praise, that's fine. If you want to offer criticism, that is fine as well.

While some people may think this is just a K & C forum, I don't believe that's the case. K & C may take up a great deal of space here but there is very vibrant discussion on Britains, Honour Bound, Figarti and Plastics so that this is a very balanced forum. Witness the Durbar thread if you think this is just a K & C forum.

Exactly ALL opinions are valid.I should point out though that my remarks were not aimed at Oz or Michael at all but at someone else.I was thinking of a history of moaning and not so much at the size debate.

Rob

I agree - everyone is welcome to their opinion :)

But, dont get your nose out of joint if you read positive comments about King and Country on the King and Country thread. We who really like King and Country - will talk about how great this company is on this site.

If you dont like K&C or what they do - thats fine - but, be prepared for lots of good comments K&C from the rest of us.

Ron

Ach! Didn't know the forum history. Sorry. I'm new too.

I was wondering where all this was coming from.

How can anyone complain about 'toys'? :D

Toys are fun. Toys are happy. Toy are us!

Blowtorch,

Don't worry about anything that may have happened here in the past. People are glad you're here and just post away with your opinions on any subject that you'd like to talk about.

Blowtorch

No probs here

Everyone is encouraged to speak their mind. What I have never understood why people get upset that I and others talk up King and Country on its own K&C Thread? I could understand if we went to other threads and did it - but, in my mind this is the place for it.

But, everyone should say what they feel.

IMO - Ron :D

Well, I may be naive, but it just seems redundant to me, so that automatically triggers my suspicion about motives. I would naturally expect everyone here to be in love with the product. Why else waste your time? You can't argue with success, and you can't fight city hall. K&C is both. There are just so many ways to enjoy the hobby nowadays.

For example, I'm an avid Stalingrad enthusiast. I didn't like the Britains range, but I didn't trash it in public, I simply went elsewhere. If K&C gives me a dry spell, there are so many cool books coming out every year, DVD's, etc. There are plenty of things to keep my attention until my preference of figure comes out again.

Hey Blowtorch, have you seen Osprey have Stalingrad coming out in June.I enjoy their books a lot.And for Ron,i was looking at Play.com and they have a book coming in the summer called Waterloo's commanders.Looks like it may be good.
