Refugees? (1 Viewer)

Speaking for myself, not really.I can see them in the Dunkirk fields of Battle range i suppose. But civilians suffering doesn't really ring my bell. For example see that new Gestapo car set,the poor chap looks like he's already suffered with worse to come.

Any interest?

I think it would be great for the FOB range, as well as the fall of France Stuff Andy did in his regular WSS series.

He was discussing doing Nazi Civilians to place alongside the parade for his LAH range. If this sells, it would probably be fairly easy to repaint the casting or otherwise convert the Civilian parade-goers into Dutch or French civilians being liberated for the Arnhem or D-Day ranges.

Yes having some civilians welcoming British troops at Arnhem would be great.Straight out of 'A Bridge to far'.

Absolutely-they were a part of the war & would make great additions to a diorama and or display!

I agree with Sq. Leader - it would be good to have them for any series and you probally could use them for a lot of different ranges.

wouldnt refugees be a group of toy soldier collectors thrown out of home for
their expenditures on small metal men.
You could follow it up with a set of angry wives/girlfriends carrying rolling pins etc

Concerning refugees, they were certainly a part of every major european land battle.i strongly recommend the recent book:Fight To The Last Man:dunkirk.
The pictures of the german massacre of Belgian civilians at Vinkt are particularly moving. The descriptions of the mass of refugees at Dunkirk makes the subject worth considering for K&C.

Refuges did play a significant role in all modern war. Even Napoleon had to contend with crowded roads when he was on the march.

I don't know if I would purchase any. For me its the soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen that attract me not the civilians. However, I am certain that if civilians were to be produced by K&C, or anyother of the great manufacturers, that they would be done well and with superior workmanship. If anyone wants to see what has been done in the past just look at the K&C Dickens series on Bill Sagers site or if you can find'em, I think it wasTraditions that did a lot of glossy civilians from the 1880 to 1910 time frame.

Imperial also did Victorian Civilians in its "Town and Around" Series, as did Trophy. Frontline did some nice matt American Revolutionary War era civilians. I don't know how well these Civilians sell, but Andy does very well with his "Streets of Hong Kong" series, and I think anything associated with LAH sells very well, so the Nazi parade goers are a sure fire big seller. I only hope that we get some French and Dutch civvies being liberated as a result, because I already have a big Nijmagen diorama with a British Armored Column going through the liberated town, so a bunch of celebratory civilians lining the route of march would be a welcome addition.
