I am seeking opinions on the JJD 109E's. After careful consideration about the 3 109E's now available, 2 JJD, 1 KC, I am leaning towards the JJD models. I like the KC version, but the rivet detail is distracting and I have eliminated that from consideration. I would like to know what owners of the JJD 109's think about them. I am leaning towards the SCW version because it is such an unusual choice but I like the Priller version, as well. Has anyone seen/bought them both? Any advice or opinions would be welcome as I have not seen them first hand so I do not know about construction details, weight, etc. Thanks. -- Al

Al,

I wouldn't necessarily gave the K & C version short shrift. I own the AK version and although the sculpt is a little different, it (the AK version) is the best plane they've made so far. I saw the new K & C version in Chicago and was quite impressed. I also saw the JJ versions and sorry to say they did nothing for me. This may be because I expected they would be made in a different medium, not polystone. This is not to say they are not nice but I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling about them as I did the K & C.

Thanks, Brad. I also have the Marseille 109 by KC and agree that it is a fine model. My only real objection to the new KC 109 is that the rivets seem excessively prominent. This is my impression, from the photos I have seen. The rivets just bother me, otherwise I like the KC 109. What are the JJD 109's made out of? -- Al

Al,

I think it's all how it grabs you -- a visceral feeling. The JJDs are mostly made of polystone.

I thought the JJD were made of resin they do not feel as heavy as K&C warbirds

Thanks Brad. It may be that the fuselage is polystone and wings are resin-like. I think thats what the JJD Fokker D-7 is. Obviously this would result in a slightly lighter feel than all polystone. But I am just guessing. -- Al

Could be or it might be a combo with polystone fuselage, resin wings. I'm very curious about this. -- Al

I would go with the SCW version. We are unlikely to get anything like that again from any manufacturer. Very unique look.

Does anyone have this version and can post a photo, perhaps with the SCW pilot figures?
