Nice pair of 262's there...Gotta love em...I don't collect planes , merely because i don't have the room for them...The only one i do i have is the 21st Century Me262...

Nice set up PA. Looks like you have a 21st C. as well as the K&C 262 paired together?
 
I recall an HC doc saying that those engines had to be disposed of after every flight. Anybody to confirm that?
 
UkSubs....Thanks again. Blowtorch , I have read that the engines had a limited lifespan. Maybe someone else can elaborate. ^&confuse

The Jumo004b turbojet engine used for the Me262 was made with lower quality steel...the engines were said to be good for 10-25 hours maybe more in the hands of a pilot who knew the craft well...The Jumo004 was fairly easy to inject too much fuel into it by throttling up too quickly, allowing heat to build up before the cooling air could remove it. This led to softening of the turbine blades, and was a major cause for engine failures...

The problem with the engine was Germany lack of special metals witch could deal with heat and that why the engine only last so many hours but not after every flight ,problem as was the engine were built in poor conditions

yeah, iirc, it was manganese they were lacking
