Just received an LVT-4 from EBay. Thinking of doing a Rhine River crossing dio. Wondering if the LCVP's used remained navy grey or were they painted OD?

From pics I have seen with these craft being used all colours were used even striped camo colours (looked like green over grey) in one. so, I would think your on pretty safe ground using it as is for the diorama. Sounds a good idea and look forward to seeing it.

I agree with Mitch, that the photos and books that I saw shows a rather mixed bag of configurations. At that point I don't really think that they cared much about anything beyond, "Do the darn things float?"

I was able to do some internet searching and according to the 12th Army report, the Army borrowed LVCP's from the Navy along with Navy personnel. The one clear picture from one of the Engineer Battalions indicates the LVCP's to be unchanged from the Navy grey.
