Is that a WWI doughboy helmet ^&confuse

Wayne PA man!!! Lets go to school..............

It is a British WWII Type 2 Brodie combat helmet called a "soup plate" affectionately. The helmet is stamped RO and CO BB II. This for the Rubery and Owen Company LTD. Produced from 1939-1943. A very successful company that supported the war effort in Britain.
It has the owners name and his sweetheart or wife's name inside.

It is the helmet the Arnhem Boys were wearing minus the camo net covering.

I maybe wrong but that to me does not look like a British para helmet as it as a rim and para version did not ?

I have seen no pictures or read of any para units who were issued with this type of helmet. There are several thousand pictures of Brit para's from D-day through to the last days of the war and, have yet to see these on their heads. I have a massive amount of pictures from the arnhem battle (as probably many do) and have never seen any para's wearing these at that battle in particular. Para hats as Neil have stated are as distinctive as the smocks they wear!!!!
