This is a simple yes or no answer kind of poll. Do you agree with the new posting policy, i.e. that you should only be able to post 250 posts in a thirty day period.

Brad, what gets me about this is also the fact that its kind of ' Don't worry because all those who post less than 250 a month have nothing to worry about and won't be affected'...oh right, so the rest of us can just lump it right? Those of us that have been here for years, contributing to the forum, creating threads , posting pics from shows, encouraging others in their dio work, well tough, you post when we say and how often we want you to post or you no longer post. Charming.

I still don't understand why it has come down to restricting posts. Why is it felt this is neccesary? Kinda 1984ish. -- Al

Al mate,
I am with you. I don't understand either. I know there is a lot of garbage posted in some long winded posts by some big blow hards, but I just scroll over them and read the posts by the more learned gentlemen of this Forum whose opinions I value. Restricting great dios whether large or small and TS show pictures & reports which sometimes take up to three or four posts is beyond me.
I would be very interested in some stats on say the regular 300 or 400 posters who would excede 250posts per month. I know I don't.
Once again just my thoughts.
Cheers Howard

I voted "No" on this poll, because no matter how hard I try, I can not see an advantage that can be achieved.
Myself, I only have an average count of posts of 1.19 since March 2007, so there will be no way possible that I would ever get affected by such policy.
But I really do enjoy reading the postings of several members with a rather high count and a restriction of them would take away a lot of the attractiveness and pleasure here.
Rob is only one sample who would fall prey under such policy, but I mention him here since he is probably one of the best known members, and the vast majority of his contributions are an absolute asset to the forum.
There are also samples of high posting count members that I don't care about, but I don't have to read them.

So, hopefully this poll will help to get the mods/owners to re-evaluate the restriction and discard it a.s.a.p.

Konrad, Howard and Rob,

thanks for putting in your opinion, its exactly what I was going to say as well, so you have support from me too.

Like Howard I scan down the posts, and skip the 'one liners' and go for the information and news of our hobby, that this Forum is providing. Its up to the reader to decide on what they look at.

Rob, I love you contributions on the first day on the month with DISPATCHES, it makes my day when I get home from a busy day at work, so please keep that post going.

I think with more support, the resrtiction may be lifted, but like Konrad, it won't efffect my posts, as I don't achive that number either, but I endeavour for quality NOT quantity !

I'm in the agreement of no, I only post maybe once or twice a day but some days I'm off I may post 5-6 times, but that being said I like having the option of being able to chat with Rob or any other members on a certain thread as many times as I want, but I also know this forum is a private forum owned by Pete/Shannon, thier rules, if I don't like it I guess I know where the door is...Sammy

I voted No for reasons explained in the other thread. Would not affect me as my total posts since I joined would not equal 12 months x 250. Strongly agree with Rob's view at post 2.

As for Obee who says he "skips the 'one liners'" I hear Wayne WA and Jack are planning more two liners to get over their disappointment at some of their best work being overlooked.

Please note there is no truth in the rumour that posts about Stukas will count as two {sm4}{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}

Regards
Brett

Konrad, Howard,John, Sammy, thanks guys. I must confess I was somewhat angry yesterday at the thought of being cut right back or locked out, but having thought about it and of course my wonderful wife's advice (my god I'm a lucky chap) I will of course give this new policy a try, I will try multi quoting as Terry has suggested instead of thanking people individually on my dio threads for instance, I will also try putting more images in each Dispatches post (John, thanks for your words mate, means a lot and I will definitely keep posting Dispatches on the 1st) and will also take more days off from posting. As Ive just said on another thread, my sincere apologies to all those who've felt I've dominated too much over the years, please believe me when I say it was out of enthusiasm for the hobby and K&C in general and not an attempt to stifle others.

Best

Rob

Thanks Brett, I've cooled a bit and will at least give it a try:wink2:

I voted NO{sm4}.....we have enough imposed restrictions as it is{eek3}{eek3}:wink2:....Let the good times roll for all who want to post{sm4}

I voted no. If you can’t post on a forum where can you post? The answer is of course is a letterbox! :rolleyes2: ^&grin Sorry Rob…:wink2: ^&grin ^&grin

Back to reality it’s not the quantity of posts that is the problem but the context of some, this new policy will change nothing.

If anybody has imposed restrictions then I for one accept that they have been imposed for good reason^&grin.

I must say that the new restrictions broaden the horizons a little bit. I have read further afield than normal. Did you know that there are people who collect toy soldiers that are glossy? Some even collect plastic toy soldiers! I also learnt that there is a big scandal in American football (I think that it is called gridiron but I cannot be sure).{sm4}

I also understand there is a place known as ' outside' .

It's been explained to me twice and I still don't get it. It looks like it is meant to reduce the number of posts from 8 or so prolific posters, a few of whom engage in arguments. But it won't catch most of the arguers. Sounds like there were many complaints about the prolific posters or Pete and Shannon wouldn't be doing this.

It's not hard to cut down to 250 posts per month, even for Rob ^&grin (not sure if Mitch or Bayern can do it :rolleyes2:{sm4})

And the system could evolve? So we will have to live with it or not.

Let me propose an alternate policy: Forum members MUST POST A MINIMUM OF 250 times a month or risk being fined one toy soldier figure for every post under the minimum. Makes perfect sense.{eek3}:rolleyes2::wink2:^&grin -- Al
