I don't think there is any question that K&C will do both WWI and WWII ANZAC forces, but I voted for the Vietnam figures, as I am unaware of anyone doing figures to commemorate the Australian forces in Vietnam.

Have seen some ...cant tell you the sites...two I know no longer trade...there are some very good American sets on the net... aussie tps slighly difference in uniform and weapons ...depending on time in country..66-67-69 etc....uniforms changed from the green shirt and trousers to the more efficient US Pixie style uniform...Tiger cam suits were issued to some units...aust kept the GP leather boots ,,steel plate soles,,,dry feet..unlike the canvas sneakers favored by some US units.....Bush hats ,,rather than steel helmets.......webbing US style,,,,wpns SLR...M16..Heavy Barrel (AR) SLR..shotguns,,,,I think 1 RAR the first mob over there in 65 still used the new Owen gun... F1's..not a well thought of weapon....not like the original Owen gun....that is about all I can remember...Tom

I like the Australian light horse, but if given a real choice I would like to see Breaker Morant in a mounted group going after the Dutch. Vietnam seems to be a hard sell for the toy soldier companies. I know it is my opinion and I respect the troops that fought there, but it was a very confusing Police Action. In some ways it is like Korea; as amazing as the Inchon landings were I would not be a buyer except for an F-86 or Mig-15. I think the Boer War sets would sell, and I have not seen many figures on it. I grew up watching Vietnam on TV, but things were very confusing, and then you had Cambodia, Laos, and other back door operations. I will admit I would buy a Huey or Cobra helicopter. If you do something please do not forget Air America. You cannot really have Australian units without US troops, who can forget the contribution the CIA, um I mean the independent contractors working in various roles in that theater of operations. Mel Gibson, and a Robert Downey Jr figures and lest we forget Mel is from down under. Two for the price of one. I'll stick with my original suggestion regarding the Boer War.

Well, we certainly got some Beersheba sets and some new Aussies in North Africa, but what about some Aussies (and others) in the Pacific? I know the Pacific wasn't as popular as some theaters but maybe it's time King and Country released some more Pacific sets.

I would certainly go along with that, but then we need the Zero too!

MEL GIBSON is a yank! born there, lived in Oz then went home to the USA. We do not claim him as a Aussie, he is all yours......{sm2}{sm3}{sm4}

Louis mate,
I am with you cobber. Which ever company releases Aussies in Nam is going to get a fair chunk of my collecting buck. Still recovering from a sore head from celebrating Long Tan Day (18th August) with some good mates. I am sure that many Aussie collectors would purchase this range.
Cheers Howard

PS Enjoyed reading back though this thread. Some interesting comments and participants.:smile2:

Thanks, but no thanks you can have him back. I thought Mad Max or Mad Mel was originally from down under. He is a piece of work! LMAO!

I'm not sure how popular a figure of the 'breaker' would be. Jury is still out on that one!

Keep in mind that he was serving in an Imperial unit when he got into trouble. Not an Australian unit. He had served in the South Australian Mounted Rifles.

Some New South Wales Lancers would be nice. Would even buy some K&C if they made them!

Howard,

what a pity that Gun-Ho went 'Off the Radar'

They were great figures, but maybe a lack of exposure to collectors made them uneconomical.

Apart from a couple by OZMADE these are the only Aussies from the Vietnam War.

I wonder if First Legion will add some Allies in thier new release of the Vietnam Range?

John
