Good Morning from the San Francisco Bay Area and welcome to the new releases for September.

We hope to announce the results to the End of Summer Trivia questions on Thursday, so I know the excitement is overwhelming, but you will have to wait, just a little while. By the way Mike Miller did not win.

Some great new releases, which we hope to have at the Chicago show. My favorites are the Portuguese and of course Raid on St Francis. For those of you attending if there is anything special from the Jenkins Collection, that you would like to see, please let us know and we will try to bring it along.

We hope to have these on the web site later this morning.

As always, we hope you enjoy the new releases as much as we do.

Best regards

THE BATTLE OF CHIPPEWA July 5th 1814

Ammunition wagons were used to carry the reserve ammunition for the guns and were normally to be found at the second line or in the Park of Artillery.
The later 1814 “New Pattern Ammunition Wagon” is based on an engraving of a burning wagon at Waterloo.
This model is based on designs found in the excellent book, “British Napoleonic Field Artillery” by C.E. Franklin.
The wagon was designed to carry 180 rounds of ammunition for the British 6-pdr.
It was normally allocated a team of six horses.

THE RAID ON ST. FRANCIS

From mid 1758 until 1762, Rogers’ servant was known to be a young black man named “Prince”. He was to accompany Rogers on the St. Francis Raid.

In the eighteenth century, servants were often referred to as “belonging” to a particular master. In the military this meant that the servant was usually clothed in the master’s cast-off clothing.
The main reference to Prince is in 1762 when Rogers’ brother James placed an advertisement in the “Boston Weekly Post-Boy” November 22nd 1762.
“Ran away from me the Subscriber at Londonderry, in the Province of New Hampshire, on the 18th September, a Man Servant named Prince about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, speaks good English.”
It was reported that Prince had first run away from Major Rogers in 1760.

Previously Rogers’ servant had been with him for many years. During the Battle of Snowshoes they became separated, and the servant found himself traveling with Captain Henry Pringle, and Lieutenant Boyle Roche. Pringle wrote that during the retreat , “one night the servant, straggled from us, where he sat down, fell asleep and died immediately, tho a very strong man.”

THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR
The BT tanks were a series of Soviet cavalry tanks produced in large numbers between 1932 and 1941. They were lightly armoured, but reasonably well-armed for their time, and had the best mobility of all contemporary tanks of the world. The BT tanks were known by the nickname Betka .
They first saw action in the Spanish Civil War. A battalion of BT-5s fought on the Republican side, and their 45 mm guns could easily knock out the opposing German and Italian light tanks.
The BT tanks were "convertible tanks". This was a feature designed by J. Walter Christie to reduce wear of the unreliable tank tracks of the 1930s. In about thirty minutes the crew could remove the tracks and engage a chain drive to the rearmost road wheel on each side, allowing the tank to travel at very high speeds on roads. In wheeled mode the tank was steered by pivoting the front road wheels. However, Soviet tank forces soon found the convertible option of little practical use in a country with few paved roads, and it consumed space and added needless complexity and weight. The feature was dropped from later Soviet designs.
The direct successor of the BT tanks would be the famous T-34 medium tank, introduced in 1940.

Finally release :tongue: And what a great batch, definitely worth the wait!

The BT tank looks very nice, The colour scheme would make the model totally acceptable for early Eastern front 1941-42.

Lots of great stuff. A little something for just about everyone. The casualty set is really nice, as is the German mechanic set. Love the tank. -- Al

JD does some of the best casualty poses around IMO. Not my line but great figures.
I love the new Cazadores set and the Napoleonic ammo wagon is a must have.
I like the pack horses but would have preferred some beaten-up knackered old pack mules or donkeys for the Peninsular period.
Great release.{sm3}

the Leuthen casualty set is a marvel, with Monongahela and St Francis returns I'm very satisfied, well done!!
Carlo

Did you know that the new ammunition wagon was first used at the Battle of Monongahela - Honest, I never fib!!!

Did you know that Mike has no figure to unload or load that wagon for his BoC displays ???? The world can be a cold, cruel place.

Pack Horses make me Happy!!!

In an instant, I would put the new ammunition wagon on my BoM column shelf, but there simply is no more room. My initial thought is to squeeze the new wagon into the RoF display shelf.

I bet the wagon set is going to fly off the shelves like John's artillery limber set {sm4}

The very bests

Cazadores & wounded Prussians are on my list of figures to add....

The Artillery wagon looks great.... but its very big and wouldn't fit in my shelves, so maybe a couple of the pack horses woul look good as a supply team to the troops.

A couple of British artillery crew members unloading/carrying rounds for a six pounder would be a nice addition...I have been petitioning for British artillery crew members to help man my 3 guns...great idea Ken...John might like that one...I know I love it...

Nice releases! Was hoping for some WW1 planes but I'm sure there will be more later this year.

Anyways, Ill be getting the mechanic and Bt-5 tank.

Pack horses standing and walking to come, in for these, thanks John & also to Mike for posting, cheers, Robin.

Good set of releases.

Supply / pack horses and wagon will fit with a few different series. Good to see Peninnsular and Leuthen series
growing as now can make a decent little scene. WWI set also nice and collectors have plenty of choice to display
with their aircraft.

Yes, some guys unloading and carrying rounds to the guns, and also a horse holder for in front of the team. - Maybe a set with a team horse lifting its leg and a trooper/farrier checking its shoe/hoof.

For me the limber and ammo. wagon with teams look good, but really need some figures to go with them. Johns telling a wonderful story with the his WWI airfields - planes, pilots, mechanics and ground crew, vehicles, and even hangers. It would be great if he would take a similar approach to fully portray a 1812/ Napoleonic British artillery battery.

This month’s releases are good news to me.

The two pack horses are a definite and the wagon is also very high on the list. I see no issue with the horse being used in my AWI displays and I believe the wagon can work as well so I can get double use, which means that I am really only paying half the price? ^&confuse ^&confuse Okay so I haven’t had my coffee yet.

Does anyone know if the top canvas comes off the wagon and if the back flaps are open to see inside?
Larry

Nice seeing the two additional firing Marines you can never have enough fire power...........The Lt.{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

A good mix of releases.
I would like to see John release more Leuthen and Peninsular figures at one time. Why not one set of Prussians and one of Austrians.....Portuguese/Spanish and French.
Like I have said before, one or two figures each month is just too frustrating for those of us trying to set up a diorama. I know that John is supporting more series than ever before and is a relatively small operation.
I will be happy with what I get but maybe a month or two with more concentration on a particular series would do the trick!
