Hi Guys, hi Keith,

Many thanks for your excellent suggestion about donating a “Lanc” to the Bomber Command Memorial… I’m with you all the way Keith, you’ll be happy to know K&C already gives to the Royal British Legion both in Hong Kong and U.K. every year alongwith the Royal Air Force Benevolent Association. In addition our U.S. subsidiary KINGS X is very closely involved with “Operation Comfort”, a great charity that does a lot for seriously wounded GI’s from both Iraq and Afghanistan.

One small point… the Bomber Command Memorial is exactly that… a memorial not a museum.

Best wishes to one and all,
Andy C.

With no disrespect to the K&C Lanc. I think these mentioned donations are far better and more useful than a wooden aircraft!!

I was in Malta for the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2 and was lucky enough to get an invite into the VIP section (old school tie...although I am talking it up a bit, after the first 30 minutes most of the island had squeezed into the same spot that I was trying to occupy) and I was lucky enough to see the flypast of a Spitfire and Hurricane and then see them close up on the ground. Keeping some of the aircraft in the air for people like me is a tribute in itself. To hear those beautiful engines as those aircraft flew low over where I was sitting was just magic. I love the memorial, but to see the aircraft still flying is something again. They say the combat was more intense than the BoB, although how one would measure that is always problematic and in no way detracts from the efforts of the people involved.

Andy, I think that is wonderful you will do that and those are great organizations you currently help. Keith

Is there anywhere you haven't been? :wink2::rolleyes2: yes it is good to see King and Country donate to those very worthy organizations, I think a good way for us as collectors to honour Bomber Command is to collect R.A.F/R.A.A.F figures as some of what we spend is as Andy as said donated. The memorial in London is truelly magnificent and as is appropriate dedicated to the men and women of Bomber Command as embodied in the wonderful statue.
Wayne.

Another great group is the Wounded Warrior Project who, incidentally, have offices (as well as in other cities) in San Antonio. WWP does quite a bit. For those interested in finding out more about them, their website is www.woundedwarriorproject.org
