This has been one of the better shows for Trophy. Tom Dubel found a Civil War Confed Caisson at Trophy of Texas, Brian Deitz found numerous sets from a French dealer that he was selling cheaply and I found a Crimea set, the Bedford Forrest set from Trophy of Texas and Head of the Column from the same French seller.

Joe Saine has numerous sets, including presentation boxes for ACW not even Tom had ever heard of but he wants a king's ransom for them. Joe's words, not mine :)

Well done Tom, Brian and your good self Brad {bravo}} Do you have set info on the Joe Saine sets?

Any Boer War C.I.V's and also any mounted Indian Lancers^&grin

Cheers

Martyn:)

Great report, Brad
Now I am really glad I did not go : I would have to spent tons of money and would spoil deals for other Trophy buyers :)
Any pictures ( ACW presentation sets in particular) to support your case? :)
Al

Just picked up the remaining sets from the French seller:

Senior Mounted Officer from the Pageantry series PAS6
Grenadier Guards PAS5
Seaforths Advancing DS 16. A little damaged but for the price couldn't pass it up.

Brad

Right before Brad from the same buyer
Hz 8
ZS 56 Senior Induna
SAS 10 The Column City of London Imperial Vol

Different Seller
XM2A Rgimental Cook

From Crown Military Minatures

Not sure of the set number it is a partial Indian Gun Limber Team at rest. The riders have a Blue Shirt, Red pants and Red and Green turbans

What I have from the set is:
2 horses at rest
1 Rider with crop
1 Cannon
1 Limber
2 sitting riders no base by their feet
2 sitting riders with a base on their feet

I assume I am missing 4 horses and two riders for the standing horse

Please let me know. I will post pictures hopefully tonight.

Nice one Brad {bravo}} I think the French seller attends the London Shows, if it is the same guy he had some Boxer sets at the last but one Show

Cheers

Here are the presentation boxes Joe Saine has. They are all in beautiful condition.

BBS1 Battle of Abu-klea
BBZ1 Reload
BBZ1Y
BBZ2Y Doctoring for the War
BBP1 Trooping the Color
GY4 Give me Your Colors Defense of Little Round Top
Cemetery Hill
Battle of the Wilderness
Picketts Charge

Prices range from 900 for ACW and Trooping to 1200 for Zulu and Sedan. Don't know if those would be considered pricey but appreciate any feedback. Any interest let me know and I will get Joe's details.

They look to be magnificently packaged - but would love to see them ( eventually) in all of their glory, when you can photograph them better. (Note: No criticism intended - as they look like my BEST efforts, as they are):D. Nice finds. jb

Great BB sets, BBS1 - THE BATTLE FOR ABU-KLEA WELLS in particular, but nothing we have not seen before! They are not special issue sets. What is "Battle of the Wilderness" btw ? BBP1 Trooping the Color is scarce but not very desirable as all Trophy Pageantry range.
All sets are in $500-800 range in my book, unless somebody wants them desperately.
Just my 2 cents.
Al

Well done to Brad, Brian and Tom for their new Trophy acquisitions and hope to see some pictures soon.

This must be one of the better years for Trophy at Chicago. Always interested to read of Trophy "Big Box" sets.

Thanks, Raymond :)

Hi Al

Len did produce several other BB sets that were very limited in distribution, just to use up his stock of the 24 figure big boxes :wink2:

Here are the descriptions of the ACW BB sets including "Battle of the Wilderness"

I agree Raymond, the only Trophy BB sets I have seen at the London Show in the last 4 years have been Salvation Army, these are rare and were produced in very small numbers

Cheers
