Dear fellow collectors,

I am a big fan of K&C Crimea series, for I reckon they are the best available in the market. I bought almost all the K&C UK limited edition Crimean war series although the price is much higher than regular K&C releases. I was elated a few months ago when I read from this forum that the K&C Crimea series has been revived for regular release.

However, I have this 'subjective' feeling that the dispatched English line regiment is not going to sell so well, cause they are not released together with the officer and flag bearers, and the poses are uninspiring... I do not demand GI Joe-alike ridiculous action poses, but at least I don't feel the poses are interesting... and they look very familiar (just like previously released Napoleonic infantries).

I will buy a selected few of the English line regiment in Jan, 2013, but not one of each of the 9 soldiers.

I think K&C UK has already produced the most appealing regiments from the Crimea theater... I was hoping that K&C UK could add-on a few soldiers to compliment what K&C UK has already produced, e.g.

1. creative or even non-combat poses for addition to thin-red line and Coldstream guards
2. an officer to the Coldstream guards (I am still looking for the Hachette Coldstream guard officer in ebay)
3. Additional Mounted and charging 11th Hussars (since only 2 Hussars vs 5 Lancers were produced)
4. Dismounted non-combat 11th Hussars and 17th Lancers
5. Earl of Lucan, Lord Raglan, James Yorke Scarlett and some aide-de-camp. I think a command group will sell very very well comparing to the regular line infantry
6. Perhaps a few French/Italian infantry figures and generals (like those produced by Hachette) under the third empire too!

Is there any restriction (or business deal) for K&C to produce figures in the same uniforms as the regiments that K&C UK already did?

I still hope that the newly dispatched Line regiment will have good sales rate so that K&C will not discontinue the Crimea series.

I think K&C should produce a command group with the main characters from Balaclava as their first regular Crimea release, to boost sales rate and confidence before they start producing other less well-known regiments from the Crimea war.

I hope Andy will regard this post as constructive criticism but not unfair comment to K&C.

P.S. I digress to Napoleonic (my favorite K&C series): Although I like the Horse Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard very much and plan on getting one of each figures to-be-released mid Dec, I reckon charging cavalry do sell a lot better than parade cavalry: e.g. Currasiers vs Red Lancers

I initially predicted K&C will release charging Hussars because of General LaSalle... but now I predict that the Horse Grenadiers will soon retire within a year or two, just like the Red Lancers. (not that I hate the Red Lancers, in fact I bought one of each design that was produced).

I have been waiting for these for what seems a very long time and with the Officers etc due in the 2nd quarter of next year the Crimean War looks good to continue. I had a chat with Andy on Saturday about what we can expect in the future for this conflict and there are plenty of ideas to keep the door open on this rather interesting period of history.

I like the Line Regiment uniform for my British Empire collection, so I will get a few of those.

Terry

I like the look of them.

No plans on collecting the whole set of new releases as I can't afford to do so but I will pick 3 or 4 of my favourites to follow on behind the Lancers taking my 2 Russian cannon. They'll fit in better than the Thin Red Line there at the moment who are looking a bit squashed in the corner of the cabinet.

A couple more Lancers would be nice when I've saved up some money.

Glad to see more Crimean figures. Only have 14 of the others, oh well these are just more to get.

I love the new Crimean figures, I would also like to see some French infantry.

These look terrific to me, I look forward to Jeff's siege of Sevastopol scenes{bravo}}^&cool

obersokar...

Interesting post from a collector of the range. I can see what you mean as from an asthetic point I prefer the earlier UK releases.

Rob

So am I Rob! {sm4}...preorder is in and that display case I lugged home on Saturday will now be used for Jeff's version of the SofS...so need to get my thinking cap on and get some idea of what terrain pieces etc will be required.

Jeff

Btw, are you getting any of these or just sticking to the Charge of the Light Brigade?

All that lugging will be worth it when these arrive mate, and I bet after a few pints of Hobgoblin you hardly noticed you were carring it did you?!^&grin:wink2:

I just love the early Charge figures, took this pic as soon as I got them but have added a couple more since;

You are a bad influence Jeff, I was tempted when I saw the pics but then when you mentioned that Crimean Trench section at the show I'm in! I think it will look really good with these new figures as a siege scene , so I'll get just enough figures to fill the section and it will be a stand alone scene.

You guys are a bad influence! James gets me buying more Germans, Bob gets me into ACW and now you are convincing me re these new guys! So far Simon has not convinced me into Vietnam and I'm staying strong on that one!^&grin

Rob, good to see another collector of the range. Those Lancers are some of the best K&C have done imho.

Absolutely agree Jeff, in my view the best mounted figures K&C have produced along with the Reb Cavalry in the ACW range. I will be interested to see the new 7th Cavalry and Indians mounted figures too.

Cheers mate

Rob

The first two series of the Charge were some of the best soldiers ever made by K & C.

I agree with you guys too! I think the first 2 series of the Charge were the best K&C mounted figures!

I also remember it was mentioned that the German WW1 mounted Uhlan lancers were also sculpted by the same guy... I hope that same guy is still around to make stuff for K&C

Hi Rob,
Great display! Where did you get the extra cannon balls from?

Thanks

Pete

Thanks Pete, to be honest I can't say where they came from as I won this base in a competition. Tony Neille of K&C UK made this for me when I guessed correctly that the first troops depicted in the Charge of the Light Brigade range would be the Lancers. I can drop him a line and ask him if you like Pete?

Cheers

Thanks Rob, well done at winning the base! Can you ask him?
I presume they're fishing weights, but I could be wrong!?

Pete

They came from Tony because when I purchased the first series he asked me if I would like extra cannon balls and he sent them to me.

I would think the spare canon balls they are air dry clay, milliput or similar that have been rolled to make the effect. quite simple and cheap to make.
