Morning, all!

I'm helping a member of the HZ-Forum ID a mystery casting that he found. We're trying to identify the maker, and the subject. Here are the pics:

As far as the subject goes, we think we've got him identified as Napoleonic and a Prussian. It's hard to tell whether the casting is intended to portray an ensign, or if the flagstaff was added later, and it's hard to tell if the finial is supposed to be the Prussian eagle or an Iron Cross. But the sculpted detail suggests a Prussian infantryman of the later Napoleonic period.

As far as the maker goes, we've very few clues. The figures is approximately 90mm, and it's been suggested that it could be from Tradition (which I tend to agree with) or possibly a larger-scale Heyde figure (I'm not so sure). The base is molded with a distinct step, that I have only seen previously on 54mm figures from ANI.

So, I thought that I should put this to our Treefrog Street Irregulars and see what we might come up with.

Oh, and here's the original thread at HZ, in case anyone would like to see the original discussion:

(albeit in German)

Thanks in advance, prosit!
Brad

For once - I think it might aid recognition if the figure was stripped of the mess that's covering it. Then maybe we could tell, what is the original figure underneath - and maybe what has perhaps been added later?? jb

Hello Brad this is 90 mm from the company figures createc Germany. I think that made Nowikoff then the Master (1995) has. I am in possession of these forms up to 1.fon are these figures are still a drummer Grenadier Musketeer and Hussar Kürrassier Ulan with 3 different Pferden.Auf wish I can sometimes inserting images. Hi, John, yes, we made the same suggestion over at HZ, too, but the owner hadn't posted if he's stripped it.

Servus, Christopher, ich bedanke mich, gut getroffen! Das melde ich drüben im HZ-Forum, mal sehen, was die andern dazu sagen. Thanks, Christopher, I think that's it.

Thanks everyone, we'll see what the guys over at HZ say. I can see very easily that it's a figure that has been offered by different makers. I think of Rylit's catalog, and her figures that were then sold through Archiv-Verlag, among other vendors.

Thanks for the assist, prosit!

Christopher, wenn Du ja 'n paar Bilder hast, bitte, kannst Du sie hochladen? Ich bin doch neugierig, die andern zu sehen. Ich bedanke mich im voraus.

Prost!

Hello Brad you know Andreas trost? he must be know this Figures and Moulds,i´ll send a few of pictures

That certainly does look to have identified the figure Brad. One thing that amazed me, however, is that someone would spend €63 for the unpainted casting (the current price) - and then have someone do a rather poor painting job on him - after spending that sort of money.

Makes you think. jb
