“Listening to the Many… Listening to the Few” (1 Viewer)

For the Australians you would need poses suitable for trench warfare or a beach landing. Although the ALH served there after the landing, the uniforms and poses would not really suit and any figures with helmets would not be appropriate (nor would the horses!). I suspect that there might also need to be a decent selection of diorama pieces.

I know that here the lobby of the australians is heavy{sm4}(but ex. out of Australia "the charge of Beersheba" is an absolutely unknown fact even if KC made a range of it for the australian market, and honestly I guess not many australians are sold out of Australia), anyway, you can make a dio on Gallipoli with the britons( not very different uniform), and so on....Maybe KC could add just a few australians and a few diorama pieces to make it, but the situation were trenches like on the western front...

I post ideas to inspire. I know that I can't afford every toy soldier that Andy produces, so I try to come up with ideas that may feel unique or different. Hence Siegfried Sassoon or Belgian Dog/MG team (with machine gun set up, dog sitting to the side, actually... rather than having the dogs hooked up. ... just my preference :) ).
Also, never assume that a line won't get produced. Not so long ago Andy actually cautioned the forum against having high expectations about WWII Russians--they didn't sell, was his concern. Guess what? We got Russians in spades within the next 18 months. Also, I suggested more Volkssturm a few years back. I doubt that Andy was convinced by anything I wrote in particular, but we got Volksturm in the spring of 2011--along with the much demanded Jagdtiger.

So I'm sure we'll see Gallipoli. I'm sure we'll see a Sturmtiger. I'm sure we'll see a French '75 (Andy already did one for the 1940 range) I'm sure we'll see some beautiful other ranges we never thought we would see (like the Volkssturm, for example).
I'll keep making suggestions (Battle of Berlin King Tiger... please?) but I don't mind if I don't see them produced.

On that note... some other good ideas...
-French Marne Taxi, with troops hanging off the sides!
-Soviet 1941 Siberian Ski Troops (just a few to go with the winter T-34)
-German Stalingrad prisoner vignette--with straw boots off to Siberia

You are probably right that there is an 'Australian lobby' led by the High Priest Waynepoo, although Isandlwana is only an honorary Australian at this point. I suspect (and I have no evidence to support this) that given how small the Australian market is, the regular additions to the ALH series surely suggest that more are sold outside of Australia than inside. That does not, of course, mean Gallipoli would sell overseas given that the cavalry might be the appeal amongst non Australian collectors. The problem with using British figures is the headgear given that Gallipoli was pre-helmet, so that means hats, caps or bare heads. There is the added issue that surely there is not room for every manufacturer to offer a Gallipoli range so it might be who rolls the dice first. There is also the dreaded scale issues - Australians are taller than Brits!{sm4}

Look forward to you meeting our Clive Gande and Kevin Elliott, both who tower over my meagre 6'03" height ^&grin
Besides, we've got the looks. Oh, and the Ashes :p

Speaking for most normandy fans, the ubiquitous scences of german fallschirmjager are etched in all are minds. Whether at st lo, caranten or the numerous other places they served. Done the kc way they would be an instant hit. Does anybody deny this

Works for me. I've got a number of the Crete series ready to be 'Normandised' with a bit of paint, but I'll take some new ones as well.

Trouble is that it's not etched in Andy's minds. We probably need to spike the water in September in Chicago :wink2:

Boy, a man with more than one mind.... now that is something. I met Andy for the first time a few months ago and could tell he was a smart guy, but this really explains it.^&grin

I am no Alan Greenspan (see my SS collection) but I am pretty sure that the market decides what is produced. I would imagine that input from collectors certainly comes into it, but if more WW II items will sell than WW I items that is what we will see.

I have attended functions where Andy listened to many collectors as they shared ideas for new releases. I have also seen K&C produce items based on these ideas. Thus, it is my FBR that Andy does more than listen.

I can attest to that after meeting Jack at the airport and having him tower over me...{eek3}

Sorry, I won't take them off for anyone. It would show up the holes in my stockings.
