I have been advocating for some time for the manufactures to provide some Great War artillery which is sorely lacking as is all things Great War, so here are some suggestions for what I would like to see. Please add any suggestions you may have or thoughts and hopefully the makers will see and maybe just maybe take note......:)

Forum members are caught between a rock and a hard place - we want the manufacturers to produce these items but we want Wayne to stop talking about them. What to do...what to do...

Seige Artillery would be great, and has been requested before in this Forum, but it comes back to the cost and so will have limited sales.

Consider that what we have been offered by K&C is field artillery, German only, we also onlty get a crew of 3, where in reality it was manned by 6 gunners. Britains does an 18 pounder, but with 4 gunners, and there is nothing else around in matte.

Yes there are some glossy 1/32 scale sets by smaller UK makers, but thats all.

What about other Allied arty, like French 75mm? or thier heavies?

What about German/Austrian Filed and seige?

Still very thin on the ground.

The only really good pieces came from Toy Army Workshop, but alas, the mould went 'down under, never to reappear.

Bear in mind that heavy arty, it heavy in the back pocket/credit card IF its done right, and that means a crew, so consider what a 9" siege gun with 10 gunners would cost, and ask if anyone is prepared to make it, and buy it?

By the way, I was lucky enough to get my TAW 8" Howitzer about 12 years ago, direct from TAW, where I arranged to obtain a full 10 man crew with souch hats, 54th (Aust) Siege Battery.

How about this????

Is this what you would like in 1/30 scale, matte and with 10 crew?

54th (Aust) Siege Battery - Somme 1917

Can see why you are interested in arty....nice pic....I can also see why it would be so expensive to make a gun and crew of that type.....just looking at the size and number of shells it would cost a mint just for the ammo...cheers TomB

All of what you say is right and correct, I guess they would have to be a limited edition, say 200?. With the 100 year anniversary upon us soon if the makers were ever to produce some big guns then would be the prefect time. You would sell at least a dozen (and then some) here in OZ alone, so a run of 200 would sell world wide surely, or am I dreaming...I live in hope.
p.s Yes I would pay the cost no drama, a tank is upwards of $200 these days and a big gun with full crew?

In all seriousness though, the cost, as we have discussed in person, might be the deciding point. What do the K&C WW 1 German 77s retail at - is it 150 dollars? A big gun with a 'full crew' - say 6 - 8 - would have to touch 300 dollars in today's market . Would the psychological divide between 299 and 300 knock some of us out of the running? The German 88 is apparently difficult to manufacture and post, so it is very appealing in the abstract, but I might have to borrow yours, take a few photographs and return it.

Yes the cost would be an issue and in the normal time frame no doubt a no go, but with all the Great War anniversies soon upon us it would ideal timing to do those one off limited edition pieces that would mark the 100 years. I am sure that they would sell, $300-$400? some of us have paid that sort of cash on that must have item (ebay). So I say make them I know I will buy.

Right mate.....nothing ventured,,nothing gained.....I made an arty piece once when I done my ALH charge and I enjoyed making it....if your interested I could have a crack at Obee's gun and crew for you....I would need some good pic's from Obee to work from...plus pic's of WW! aussie gunners in the field ...I am okay with infantry but new to arty....can only promise a 70/80 % result but it/s better than nothing......swap the gun for a plastic aeroplane kit...how's that ?...cheers TomB

Why not mate, if google 'Great War artillery' you'll find plenty of pics and the Australian War Memorial site is great for pics as well...look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Cheers,
Wayne.

To my knowledge, Trophy, Toy Army Workshop and Heco Tinplate Models have all done excellent versions of this gun, and the Toy Army Workshop version came with a full crew.
