Guys, in about fourteen weeks we convene in London for a weekend of celebrating our hobby, ok I can hear Simon laughing up in Nottingham now, what I mean of course is show/dinner/piss up etc etc. :wink2: So for those us attending please put your name here so we can get an idea of who we can expect. I know there will be a good turn out of the Brit Brigade (they never knowingly miss a drink:wink2:) but who else will be there? So sign up for the show!

Rob

Rob mate,
Great to see you posting again. The Good Lady Wife and I will be there to show the Aussie Flag for the Penal Colony known to us as the Land Downunder.^&grin
Looking forward to the Show, catching up with your good self and all the boys and to travel back to Chelmsford and Saffron Waldron in Essex to enjoy an ale in the local pub that my great, great, grandfather use to drink at.:smile2:
Counting the days.
Cheers Howard

Rob,
I will be there with a friend collector . At last back in the city where I stayed at least 12 times a year when I was still working for the Rank Organization ( retired now )
(Can you recommend a nice hotel in the vicinity of the show ?)
Looking forward seeing you then
:)guy

Hi Guy,

This maybe be of some help;
http://www.booking.com/landmark/gb/...p1t1:neg;ws=&gclid=CMLwxoff9rUCFY3LtAodHhMASQ

I'm afraid as I don't live too far from London I rarely stay over night so cannot recommend one myself, but one of these may work for you. If not there is a Holiday in near the old show venue in Russell Square that looks ok, cheap and cheerful type of thing. I personally would not stay at the Royal National as its very noisy indeed when packed with visiting students, but if you don't mind a bit of noise that could work too.

Looking forward very much to meeting you Guy:smile2:

Best

Rob

Thinking about going myself for 1 day, but not sure yet(maybe too tiring to do it in 1 day).

I'm already signed up with Clive and so are you (by the way you owe me a shilling for doing that for you ^&grin)

Information I gleaned during my discussion with Mr Lurchio.

Friday will be introduction night for our visitors from overseas followed by a meal in a decent restaurant in the city(actual venues to be arranged when Clive can confirm the numbers attending)

Saturday of course will be showtime interrupted no doubt by the Brit Brigade's Liquid Lunch in the Steam Passage Inn-As the boys found out last Saturday they serve some pretty good tucker from their kitchen and very reasonably priced-Two meals for £11.00 instead of £8.50 each. I do believe Louis will need a plate of Fish & Chips following Jeff's intention of introducing him to real English ale ^&grin

Sunday is open house at Clive's-I told him I won't be able to make that as I must get back to Plymouth by Sunday afternoon-Duty calls.

Clive told me he will contact us Brits who are attending his Symposium either by e-mail or PMs a little nearer to the date.

Over & Out

Evening Bob,

Hope all is good today mate. Frrrrrrrrrrrricking freezing up here{sm2}

Thanks for signing me up mate, going to be a good weekend that one :wink2:. Hopefully our American/Australian/Dutch cousins will all join us in t'pub as they say. I've heard good things about the battered fish in that pub Bob so might partake myself next time. Am looking forward to the meal on the Friday a great deal, I'll probably grab the last train home as I'm not staying up town.....unless the missus can be persuaded to come pick me up in the early hours:wink2: I think its going to be a laugh and a half with the crowd that's coming along, I feel one or two toasts by the end of the evening Bob!

I too am unlikely to be able to make the Sunday at Clive's as I too have family duties to attend, but I am hoping some of us may head off to either Bovington or Hendon at some point.

Cheers
Rob

Well, it's got to be worth turning up to see you sticking to a small sherry. I trust you're counting gin and vodka as being tea total inclusive drinks?

I'm down for Friday through to Monday since you've kindly offered (in your absence) to fund my drink habit for the duration. :)

Hey Simon, will you be wearing your famous Kelly McGillis Top Gun Then & Now t-shirt the entire weekend or have you finally worn it out? :rolleyes2::tongue:^&grin

I kindly invite the honourable gentleman to peruse my previous utterance and direct me to where I said 'STICK' to a small sherry, that was only until you arrived and then its a free for all:wink2:

Ok then, if I pay your bar bill then Bob can pay mine and we'll all pay Jeff and James. I'm worried though, I don't want Howard, Louis and George to think you lot are a bunch of old soaks as I sit there with a pint of Orange and Lemonade a perfect paragon of sobriety and restraint{eek3}:wink2:

Should be a blast mate, you got digs in London yet?

Rob

Thanks for that. I was living the dream until you blew it :rolleyes2:.
It's about right though, my Kwak GPz is resting in peace (or pieces) in the garage, my other half doesn't let me out of the house in my leather jacket anymore and my Rayban Aviators are peeling their UV layer.
Just as well I've still got the good looks, hair and winning smile :).........(incoming!)

You have seen how much those two can put away haven't you? {sm2}

I think Howard, Louis and George will be too busy trying to find the dictionary that you got the 'perfect paragon of sobriety and restraint' bit from, as I'm sure it means something different......

Rob

Will definately be a blast. Haven't got digs yet. I was thinking of nodding off on the tube instead. Someone recommended it to me once...... :wink2:

Simon mate,
The 12,000 mile trip to London is now going to be well worth the money. No so much for the TS Show but for the zanny banter in the Bar. I think a scratch match of cricket in the bar between OZ and US verses the UK and Belgium would be about equal. A good Warnie spinner out of my hand should knock the G&T out of Rob's hand.^&grin^&grin
Counting the days.
Cheers Howard

Howard, with the size of G&Ts that Rob consumes, a 90 year old blind baboon could knock the glass out of his hand at 100 yards :wink2:

'Perfect paragon of sobriety and restraint', my backside....:rolleyes2:{sm4}

She's doing you a huge favor, she doesn't want people pointing at you and snickering behind your back for wearing that awful Members Only embarassment.

Winning smile ..... okay, I'll let you have that one. :rolleyes2:^&grin

Hair ..... with all the hair that's collecting around the drain in my shower every mornin' who am I to make sport of the fellow follicly challenged. :redface2:{eek3}

Good looks ..... well, now that's just plain silly. :tongue:

I don't think you should talk about the bar staff like that, they do a good job under difficult circumstances and she said she liked you very much.:wink2:

I would not recommend sleeping on the tube mate, the room service is terrible and after having a few you will end up on the Circle line wondering why the hell you are not getting nearer home..................or so I've heard!

I shall be the epitome of self control, a beacon of virtue and abstinence in a sea of discombobulated befuddlement and spirit fueled confusion. I will be Churchillian in my resolve......oh s***.....he loved Brandy and Champagne didn't he!{eek3}:rolleyes2:
