What if P is for Polish, which is the regular edition on MG024. Introducing the new "E" for English tea edition....

Who painted the SAS figure ?....Wrong color beret...wrong para wings....and I think their area of operations in WW2 was the middle east.....of that I could be wrong.....cheers TomB

Hi Tom,

They are MG024 of the OMG range, depicting the Polish airborne. I bought two sets. One had the original gray beret intact. The other, I had painted the beret red so that he could fit into the rest of the range. As far as I was able to tell, pardon me if I am wrong, there were no insignia differences that I can see between English and Polish. I may be wrong. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate the one with the gray beret. Otherwise, I would have put them side by side.

Anyway, while watching the movie ABTF, I do not recall the red and gray berets ever fighting side by side. So, wanted to put this sculpt (figure) to better use. i have only left General Sosabowski completely unabridged since I only bought one.

To the rest of the folks, pardon for jesting around about the P letter. Anyway, i have voted yes to getting the premium OMG figures as I have made up my mind it is probably better money spent than going back to chase say the AN range. I think the Ps are going to be significantly better in the flesh, but of course that is my opinion.

well, you have decided to get these figures although looking at the pics of the new and old from the west coaster there is a significant difference in the colour of the beret with the new in all pictures so far looking more MP red. Now, that may be the pictures I doubt it because looking at all the old the beret was burgundy as it should be.

Anyway, you will have to stop breaking the law and losing money in Road traffic fines or, you will only be able to afford the peasant versions

Just brushed on the SAS history....they did operate outside the middle east....my interest is in Stirling and the early SAS and post war .....The pole's could have worn the winged dagger as there were apparently..Belgium and French SAS units towards the end of the war.....I did not go past the LRDG and the original SAS in the desert.....learn something new on this forum almost every day...and get proved wrong a few times too....part of the fun of Treefrog.......cheers TomB

Tom I've read a lot about the SAS. In WW2 as well but they still wear the same colour caps as the British paras mate

Sorry Chris...I was unaware the Pole's wore the SAS badge.....but not the Sandy beret.....my only knowledge of the Poles was in the movie "A Bridge too Far" and I do not recall Gene Hackman...the Polish general with a Winged Dagger on his beret.......nice figures mate and well photographed ......sorry if I confused you....and visit Sydney next time you visit Aussie...the convict cops are more reasonably there......cheers TomB

Thanks for the advice. Will see how the berets turn out.

I am not so much for the mass market "peasant" stuff today. The traffic tickets were in Melbourne and going above 4km/hr on the limit is not what I would agree as breaking the law. Speedometers and tyre sizes would already have generated errors. But that state needed cash and had to get it from the tourists. That meant that I picked up less K&C items when I next stopover at Sydney.

Anyway, I am fine with not collecting at all if "peasant" stuff is all that I can afford. It is just a different perspective after having collected other stuff in the past.

If you are in the customization biz, perhaps you will then be offering your service to right what is wrong. See the golden opportunity!

Actually, I did visit Sydney and went to Nathan's at QVB to pick up two DD British Green Berets sets while the Mrs and kids were elsewhere shopping. If I am not wrong, Richard attended to me.

Tom I've read a lot about the SAS. In WW2 as well but they still wear the same colour caps as the British paras mate

.....The Brits..Aust and NZ ...SAS wear a sandy beret...sandy beige color....the Rhodesian SAS also wear a Sandy Beret to my knowledge...do not know if the Canadians have a SAS mob...more than likely do but as they are closer to the Yanks ,they may have gone the Green beret path or both.. the Maroon...often called Red Beret ..... is the color of Airborne troopers ( Brit Para's)......SAS are all para qualified but are used mainly as special forces.....be very rare if they went into action as a Sqn......I aint no expert but I do know the beret color........ask around....I am sure you will get the same answer.......cheers TomB

No "Convict cops" that visit I hope........I am afraid...Nathan's and OVB are not familiar.....I visited Sydney sometime ago and was amazed at the change....had not been there for at least 30/40 yrs....Did you visit Darling Habour and see the ship museum....if you did and saw the old Green and White Ferry...South Sterne...I used to take trips to Manly on that when I was a kid.....love ships...Hong Kong harbor would be the place to see I reckon...all those ships of all types etc...must be a wonderful sight... cheers TomB

Thanks Chris.....Adelaide very quiet,,,had the misfortune to be posted there for a short time but a selection for a course I applied for when I was in Malaysia came up and I was off to West Aussie where I stayed...just to add further confusion....attached pic of Polish WW2 Airborne....dont do anything to your Polish figure....it may turn out to be unique somewhere in the future ......maybe they had a polish SAS unit as well....seems everyone else did in WW2....ahhh the joys of Treeefrog....never a dull moment...see yer mate...Tom

No I dont........I make my own figures out of sculpey....as a hobby.....attached is a Desert dio I did of the LRDG and the SAS a few yrs ago ....have done one SAS SVN ........one US Airborne exiting from C47....all in the Dio section somewhere......I dont recall saying I dont like MG figures...maybe I am having a senior moment...
