I have seen over the years I have been collecting K&C change . They seem to move in waves to adjust to the times. The prices have risen but now the style is slightly changing. They are trying to make K&C for the novice and collector and the elite collector. I think K&C are on a winner here and it will be seen how well the collector base take to it. I think it is a great move bring on the change. What do you guy's think. Chris.{sm4}

The details in the sculpts and painting seem to improve slightly which each release - with the ranges I collect anyway. You'd expect this really and its reflected in the price increases we see almost monthly. However, my collecting budget has not increased so I'm just buying less figures and being more selective. They are very good quality products though, and I've never been disappointed after ordering a piece online after only seeing photographs. If anything, the photos don't usually do them justice.

I agree with you in the three choice's.....I think it is a very good idea as the costs are rising all the time and now K&C have offered three different price range's ...if they went straight to elite figures only as some firms are, it would cost them a lot of loyal collectors and they realize that.....I am really interested to see how they handle the novice range......use a cheaper form of the old range's...which would upset a few people I imagine....start a new range of TS ?......I am glad I do not have to come up with a business plan...hope they do well.....the idea is very good........cheers TomB

Only time will tell. We have only seen two of the what some you call ''elite'' and a good old few could see no difference in the paint style so, we will have to see what this elite actually is to see if its going to work. We also don't know what the prices will be of the ''mainstream'' will they also rise as they have been doing and will we see the P figures rise like everything else has month after month which, has been restricting a lot of the core K&C collectors?

What also will be the quality and price of the peasant figures or the so-called entry level for all of these ''kids'' wanting figures at an affordable price?

Also, when people already speak of ''elite'' figures in actual fact in this market there is only FL who fits that Bracket so, for me, sadly, the P range will not stop anyone who wants to get better figures from going to FL. They are worlds apart if we are honest appealing to different people. I am very picky and I can see no difference in the new P figures so, when collectors see them and compare them to FL at the same price I would not see the option being difficult. Elite figures should be worlds apart from what you are currently doing and at this time P is not at that level for me.

I know that I have had issues with some aesthetic features hats and similar faces but, this is not on show on the new Waffen SS which are excellent in look and, is not a feature on any of the other sets, well, Samurai that I have bought.

As people are congratulating K&C for another master move I will await what actually happens in terms of pricing to see if its a great move or not.

Really it depends on what markets K&C are trying to get a foothold in to how successful it may be. Britain's are good figures at a price youngsters can afford when figures are at £28 onwards (ones I have been looking at recently) and, it would seem that they will have to do other era's to compete or be compatible. No disrespect but, they are not competing with FL and if they try the figures will be too cost prohibitive IMO for a variety of reasons.

K&C as one poster said is trying to be all things to all people and, it invariably does not work especially, in a hobby that has such stark individualism in terms of manufacturers releases. Can K&C make figures that are price attractive and compete with Britain's CS and TG in this market as they are all doing rather decent stuff at a rather decent price I don't know as I said only time will tell

With three levels on the market coming I wonder if that will mean just three levels that will rise month after month? Its not the products I have heard people moaning about its only the cost rising month after month. stopping that seems more important than using different colours on the same sculpts to me and calling them P or making a cheaper range.

So, that's my opinion and, hopefully we will see none of the usual lets attack this person or that person to defend K&C its simply how I see it and how I hear and read it on here and elsewhere.

Think we're just have to wait and see when the new range come out before saying how well they do to be fair .

And who knows whether these changes will work for K&C, or not work and be modified or dropped entirely. As Andy has so often said "Buy what you like and can afford" Ultimately the market will decide.

Very interesting as always Mitch....you are very experienced in the TS area more then I am and you may have a theory on how K&G can work their third option...The starter range or cheaper range...whatever you wish to call it....I am not trying to be smart... I am seriously interested because ...myself....I have no idea how they could go about it....my only concept is ....simpler figures...basic painting....maybe resin or plastic figures to reduce production costs. .....that is all I can think of.... do you have any idea's on what K&C may have in mind ?.... ...and .what idea's might the forum members have on how it can be done ...but .......you are probably right thought..it could turn into a free for all.... best I forget about it ?......Cheers TomB

I agree with a lot of what Mitch has to say on this subject. I think he gets it. I am one of those who can no longer afford mainstream or elite (whatever hybrid that proves to be). So for me there are no "improvements". I have always liked K&C products and I am sure I always will. But I am one of those that will be left behind. I am not a major collector like some others here, and I will still hold on to my modest collection as I am really very fond of every piece I have. I hope whatever K&C becomes they are successful. I wil continue to look forward to the monthly dispatches with much enthusiasm.

Didn't we just have a thread or two that had similar themes. I'm not really sure why we need another, although far be it for me to try to stifle discussion. Let's just hope it doesn't wind up in raised tempers, deletions, etc.

King and Country could manufacture 2 0 3 ranges of the same figure, from lowest to highest quality for all collectors pockets

This thread reiterates what has already been discussed in detail last week and the week prior.
For me King&country continues to be my favorite brand since 2007 and will continue to be so for years to come.
Change is good as it keeps things interesting and not stagnant. Looking forward to hopefully seeing the new OMG
"P" figures at the Texas Show in May. !

Hi Guys,

“Simmo” posts a very interesting and provocative question…and definitely one that deserves a good answer…

The short and sweet answer is, of course, a resounding YES! It’s my honest opinion that change is both necessary and welcome in both our personal and professional lives…and keeps us on our toes.

Having lived and worked in Hong Kong for over 35 years, one of the world’s most vibrant and successful cities, I am surrounded by constant change on a daily basis…New ideas, fresh approaches and shifting economic climates demand we look, consider and meet all kinds of challenges with all types of solutions for the short, medium and long-term well being of our company and our collectors. That means devising and developing different ranges and strategies for each and every situation…and collector.

Sometimes they will work…sometimes they will not…but you never stop trying. With any kind of “change” there is always the risk of failure but that should never deter anyone from attempting something now.

In my book the only real shame is to sit on the sidelines watching the world pass you by-all the time hoping and willing that others braver and bolder than yourself will fall at the first hurdle! How sad is that?

Best wishes and happy collecting.

As the old saying goes, if you are standing still while others move forward, you are, in fact, going backwards.

That is why I thought you have jumped in head first into this new chapter. I think it is a great way to go. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Good luck and I hope it works for you. I am very interested were this can go. All positive . Chris.{sm4}

for companies that produce figures in the price range of US$30-40/figure, my ranking (in terms of sculpt and paint quality) as follow:

John Jenkins
K&C
Kronprinz
TG
Del prado/Hachette (those produced by K&C)
Figarti
Collectorshowcase
W. Britains

PS First Legion is out of that price range
