Do you have photos? I have 2 of the tower, but have not heard/seen a lighted staircase with base.

Back in the day I followed Conte like a blood hound and I never heard of a tower with lighting.

That sounds like a Carl Klinkermeyer conversion where he paid some poor sap 50.00 for the tower, added stairs and lighting and then flipped it for nine grand.............that's got Klinkermeyer special written all over it.

You sir are absolutely spot on as to the source.(Although the 9 grand figure is a tad off).Actually it's
been so long ago that I obtained this piece,I forgot what I paid for it.(Hell,I have yet to set it up!.
The terrain base that the tower sits is highly detailed and imposing as well.I reached R.Conte's wife
today to exchange pleasantries and info on this piece. She added nothing to it's mystic.I will try E-Mailing
Mr.Conte .Hopefully I can add more substance to the storied item.

Fellas,R. Conte E-mailed me the details of said 'tower'. All towers WERE created equal but a few were
'altered 'by the 'named' lit staircase perpetrator from whom I bought same many moons ago.Ergo, same
tower ...customized.

I remember him having that at the Valley Forge Show many moons ago, he bought it the previous year at the same show from the dealer set up next to him, hit him over the head with a folding chair to get a better price, then he customized it, cranked up the price and brought it back to the show the following year. Wasn't sure if the price he was asking included the land the actual tower sits on presently.........................

Well I hope Gary finds a buyer for his tower. I got mine out and set it up as a backdrop behind a Barzo Castle stretched like across the table, Behind the Keep. It's been in storage for year and years. It still remains an impressive set. I have meant to detail it many times but never have. I feel a siege coming on.

No.no you are right, however our history books do mention more of a 'slow trot 'brand of medieval electricity as opposed to the "running'type.Edison was a very 'cheeky' fellow.
