MMA fight last night (1 Viewer)

you want excitement?

you want an intense sport?

get into curling...

there is nothing in the world more intense...
than watching that puck...
slide down the ice at 4 miles per hour for 6 seconds...

now that is thrilling...

Whatever you two are drinking, please send some this way as I surely need it :wink2:

I love amateur boxing over pros, in particular Olympic tryouts, when they have them or used to have them. A lot of action.

Ha, a modern version of gladiators was tried back in 1989-1996 called American Gladiators...remember Zap, Nitro, Lace, Malibu. Regarding dog/cock fighting the NFL seems to dismiss that criminal activity..welcome back Michael Vick.
We watch sports because of the entertainment they provide. Each his own on what they choose to watch or play for that matter. A world of perfection it isn't but it allows us the bonding factor of many hours of water cooler discussion. Yes I'll admit, on occasion I even watch cars turn right for 3 hours...I'm sure George will have a great time with that one..lol!

they video won't play...

so what happened...

this "athlete" fell down on his own at 4 miles per hour?

The video does play. He did fal - 7 stitches and a concussion. Any Canadian sport on ice is dangerous. At my curling club, several people have died from on-ice falls and several more have been seriously injured. There have been several near misses where the person took what looked like a serious fall but wasn't hurt. I had one near miss that people couldn't believe I wasn't hurt. The game looks slow but the rocks have a lot of momentum and with rocks and people moving indifferent directions on slippery ice, things can happen very fast.

Terry...

it wouldn't play for me...

maybe my software is not compatible...

on both videos that I click on...

it says..."this content is currently unavailable"...

and I feel bad about making light of curling injuries...

I had no idea...

you never know til you learn...

my apologies...

you won't...
or you probably won't...
and that's because...
that is not allowed in boxing...
you will be disqualified for that...

in boxing...
you're not allowed to hit a man when he falls to the ground...

I do watch a lot of boxing...
and as you may have not seen but a few fights...

I have seen many times...
where a fighter fell to his knees and his beating continued...
until the ref could stop it...

I have seen chairs thrown by a fighter's corner...
I have seen the trainers and the entourage of a fighter attack his opponent...
I have seen a mother come into the ring and attack her son's opponent...
I saw a chunk of an ear bitten off a man...
I have seen fighters hit the referees...
I have seen intentional low blows...
fighters on PED's...
fighters with eye irritants on their gloves...
loaded gloves...
head butts...
hitting on the break up of a clinch...

some boxing matches are just flat criminal...

you guys think boxing is so clean and pristine...
so non-brutal...so safe compared to MMA...
these guys don't even know what the Queensbury Rules are...

most of them are viscous thugs...

you can't compare football rules to baseball rules...
they are different...
each sport has it's own set of rules...

however...

in boxing...where you have never seen a man get hit on the ground...
you can corner him against the ropes and beat him as unmercifully as you want...
and it happens all the time...
until...like in boxing and both the MMA...
the referee mercifully stops the fighter from killing him...

Mike:

I think most of what you list in regards to boxing is illegal and calls for a disqualification.

I readily admit that I do not know all of the MMA rules. Is it legal to go after a fighter once he or she is knocked down? And I am not talking about going to a knee or stumbling I am talking about getting flat out knocked to the floor.

Jason...

yes...

in MMA...you win by either knock out or tap out or decision...

sometimes the entire fight is wrestling on the mat...

a lot of these fighters have a college and professional background in wrestling...

most fights are decided by submission holds where their opponent taps out...

Gentlemen,
Why don't you ask your Govt. to pack these two sheilas and all the others who compete in this ""Sport"" off to Syria to fight against ISIS. Would be better than beating the crap out of each other in the name of ""Sport"":(
Just a view from the cheap seats here in the Land Downunder. ^&grin Cheers Howard

well...

hope nobody paid big bucks to view the Aldo/McGregor MMA fight last night...

if you thought Rhonda Rousey's demise was fast...

this one set a new MMA record by lasting only 13 seconds...

fastest finish in UFC history...

one punch and it was over...

Conor McGregor made quick work of Aldo
