Harry

We are checking the maps now - but, my OLD GUARD Friends are having trouble finding where you live.....can you give some directions - we will be sitting here sharpening our bayonets

I already told you where I am my snail-devouring friend, but its been moved and is presently buried away in the Miscellaneous section under a thread called "China, BBQ and Other Matters". However......Yawn.....Issue your troops with a map of China. Tell them to find Beijing. Pan right towards N. Korea and find Dalian at the lower end of that pimple of a penisula that juts out into Bohai Bay from the North. Further directions and info shall be found in the thread previously indicated in this response....:)
Mind you, your garlic-smelling and frog-eating OLD GUARD had better get a move on cos I'm heading back to Dubai on Thursday for another 5 weeks fun in the sandboxes of the Middle East.....:eek:

However, to compare Napoleon a Great Military Leader to that thug Castro - well you are pushing it my friend ! There is no comparison at all in my book.

I didn't mean to in any way compare their military prowess, intellegence, or leadership ability. In every case Napoleon wins by far.
I only meant to point out possibly the only real similarity--they both professed to be the champions of the common man.

Thankyou for sparing my life. Best wishes to your bayonet wielders!:D

H,

Just lie down behind the crest of a hill and wait. Bet they don't push the attack. :D

Simon

Thats a good idea Simon. Wish I had a DeLorean with a correctly set flux capacitor. I'd travel back to 1815 and pass the advise onto Wellington....:D:D

I actually caught that "Back to the Future" referrence!!!:D

Sorry about the bayonet wielders, Mr. theheid; but if they are French, do you really think they'll put up a fight?:D

Naaaah, they'd run away from a f@rt. They're the nation who invented the only tank in history with 1 forward and 5 reverse gears. Hmmmm.....hang on a minute, that might have been the Italians. Need to research my Wee War Comic sources....:D:D

PS. Have you started watching Fitba yet? Suggest you go to the Miscellaneous section and open up the "Musings of Harry and Rob" thread. Open up those links I posted to wind up my English mates, and I guarantee you'll be converted to a Scotland National Football Team Supporter in next to no time.....Also LOL.

You are welcome my young friend - now time for some re-education !!

My wife who is a public health specialist was talking to a land development expert from the World Bank last week. He said that when you fly over Europe you can see the extent of Napoleon's campaigns. Where ever the Frecn stopped you see lots of small family owned farms. This is peasnat based agriculture. In Germany and further eastaward you see large sprawling estates belonging to single noble and aristocratic families. Napoleon seemed to break up privilege and distribute wealth a bit more than the tradiotional aristocracy.

Interesting
I never knew that

Damian

That is pretty interesting. I certainly never knew that.
Couldn't that also be a result of French soldiers who stayed behind as land squatters, though?

This poll would be more interesting if the WWII supporters could vote for their second favorite line. I'm thinking WWI would pick up a lot of those folks.

It would be interesting to know - which range in the WWII world is everyone's favorite too?

For me, it's Battle of the Bulge closely followed by FoB. However, the new LRDG/SAS sets have sparked off a renewed interest in the North Africa campaign. :)

Looks like WWII wins but Naps get a good response. Figures released are not in a 2 WWII to 1 Nap as poll suggests.
Thanks to all who voted.

Richard
