Received a few JJD WWI items for Christmas, my favorites being the Rolls Royce Hedjaz Armoured Car crew members WAD-02A and WAD-02B from the Wheels Across the Desert WWI sub range Thought I would start a thread where I could showcase my JJD WWI collection as I add to it . . . . More to follow. I have used a Nikon D-3300 camera with a Nikor AFS DX 18-55mm lens which I have had for about 7 months. Up until today I have used this camera mostly in the AUTO mode. This evening I took the below photos in the MANUAL mode . . . still a learning process . . . On another note, I was glad to see John's announcement that he is planning to offer a third RR armoured car in 2017. This will complete the 3-car Hedjaz Armoured Car Section . . . .

Thank you Andrew. The background is made up of Department 56 scenics from their Holly Land range. The wooden door is included in the Caravansary Gate (sku 56.59916). On either side of the gate are two sets of Caravansary Walls (sku 56.59917).

Another Christmas gift I received was a set of Royal Garrison Artillery crewmen which I needed to finish manning (10-man crew) my BL 60-Pounder Heavy Field Gun. I really appreciate John providing a full crew for each of his artillery pieces . . . . I wish the other manufacturers would do the same . . . . .

One other JJD item I received as a Christmas Gift was the Allied Nissen Hut. My first impression was that it was rather small in size. However, when I researched period photos of the original huts developed by Lt. Col. Peter Nissan in 1916, the photos revealed that that these buildings were actually quite small. They were designed in 1916 to temporarily house troops being brought in to prepare for the Battle of the Somme. There just couldn't have been much room in these huts when considering the narrow width and relatively low ceiling they had. Pictured with my SPAD XIII's Ace-22 and ACE-26.

I am personally fond of this display because of John's use of my grandfather's photo in France to develop his set of AEF American Engineers and his gift to me of his original artist sketch that he used to create one of the Engineer figures. The other period photo also illustrates how accurate John's model of a Mack Bulldog Truck hauling an American version of a French Renault FT Tank turned out. The marching group of American AEF US Marines were Golden Ticket gifts . . .

A very nasty weather day here . . . . . temperatures hovering just above freezing . . . . . a mix of rain and snow. I decided to add another shelf to my corner unit this morning . . . . required removing all of the items on display on each existing shelf so that I could readjust the height of each shelf to make room for the new one . . . not terribly difficult but time consuming . . . . gave me a chance to "play" with the figures while re-displaying them. All worth it though . . . . I now have some additional display room . . . . .

There's not many people that have a TS figure made in the image of their Grandfather, what a great display. The new JJD set are very impressive, terrific detail and painting, I intend to get their WWI German 'Mephisto' tank this year for an Aussie display.

Extreme weather allover by the look of things. We're having a heatwave here, temperatures to 45 C (113 F) inland for much of this week. I'm lucky I live near water on the coast, not as hot here and the humidity is ok as well. I'm also in the process of organizing a new display area as I've downsized my accommodation, soon I'll have the concern of what sets to sell and what to keep.

Thank you very much Matt . . . John certainly is a gentleman and I sincerely appreciate his kindness in making a likeness of my grandfather in return for letting him use some of my grandfather's photos for his research. I have the JJD Mephisto tank along with its crew members and its certainly one I would recommend adding to your collection, especially with the Aussie connection that goes with it.

Yesterday afternoon and early evening I continued my reorganization efforts of my shelf displays. Besides the addition of a corner shelf, I was able to make room for two more 36-inch (91 cm) shelves and one more 24-inch (61 cm) shelf. I had to order the extra shelves (Easy-Track shelving system) needed which I found available on Amazon. Anymore I believe you can find just about anything on Amazon. The shelves should be here by Friday and then I will be able to finish this project.

I was running out of display space and had to make a decision to curb my TS "appetite" or find a solution for expansion. However, I am really leaning toward collecting some of JJD Wars of the Roses figures and I have just started collecting W.Britain's WWII range and so decided on the reorganization of my existing shelf space. Besides JJD WWI, I also collect WB ACW, WB Clash of Empires, WB Vikings, along with some WB WWI and First Legion WWII DAK. The addition of the new shelves will buy me some time and should get me through 2017. All the best . . .

And so it begins . . . . . Received these two knights today from the Wars of the Roses range, HLANC-01 Henry Tudor and HLANC-03 Wm. Brandon w/Tudor Battle Standard. WOW! These are extremely well done . . . . photos don't do these justice. John is certainly a master of his art and these two knights certainly represent that observation. Obviously will be the first of many that I will collect from this range.

Yes these figures sell themselves. They certainly stand out. A battlefield of these, would make for one spectacular sight. Robin.

Ha Ha, I'm sure there's some mathematical ratio involved where the proportion of Toys collected will always exceed available Display space.

Not only do they stand out, they are gorgeous . . . a corner shelf has been reserved to display these in a battle field arrangement as they are acquired . . . .

Guilty as charged . . . Mike, seriously man, its the dopamine effect . . . . its like being hooked on drugs or alcohol . . . . . call me funny or call me weak, I just can't help myself when John delivers such awesome figures and ranges . . . . I have decided not to look at it anymore as spending more money. I now look at it as spending my children's inheritance.

Matt, you could also say that the proportion of TS collected will always exceed the available limit on your credit card. Space, I need more space . . . . space to display my collection and space to store the boxes.
