I just happen to see this question. Did you ever get a response to this?
If not, I will be able to get a couple of Pictures tomorrow and post them here.
Let me know.

Nice work Larry. I am not a serious collector of FIW but hey, who has seen NorthwestPassage and The Last of the Mohicans and resists totally. My compromise has been the canoe sets, and that one is an economical diorama piece all on its own. They are all great sets, and they provide opportunity to try one's hand at simulating water. Once on that treadmill, the chasm opens and there awaits the barge and the grenadiers...and did I mention the fortress canons {sm4}. I will be building dioramas into my next life thanks to John. C'est la vie :salute::

Funny you say that Bob, one of the things I enjoy about visiting you guys in Brisbane is getting to see figures up close and on display. Brett has a nice array of JJD in his shop, but it's also great to see them being used in diorama's, the canoe sets in particular.

Like you, movies & history has drawn me towards this range with ever increasing interest, although up until now I have somehow resisted the urge to begin collecting FIW.

Having seen the new canoe set I think it's about time I dip my toe in that river and enjoy the ride once and for all.........^&grin

Evening gents;
Thank you for the comments.

I have a wonderful collection of JJD RSF sets .... mostly the Indians. I think they are some of the best sculpts and painting I've seen.
Sorry the pics were a quick snap and run, but I wanted to give "ForzaToro" at least something to look at.

I am working on a JJD Indian Village diorama and will post some pics as I work.
Now, I mostly focus on FWI and AWI with JJD and K&C as well as some JJD 1812 thrown in for fun.

I agree 100% the canoe sets are the center piece of most of my setups. I have four JJD canoe sets at the moment, but still hunting for the ever elusive JJD CAN01{sm2}

This weekend we are expecting another 8" or so of snow so maybe that will be a good time to play a bit.
Stay tuned to this station ......{sm4}

Really appreciate you sharing your collection snaps with us Larry. I have a few of the K&C Indians which are some of my favorites, plus the old AWI figure, but alas no JJD FIW......yet.

Thank you for the pictures, they are very useful for me and compliments for your work.
The first canoe set can 01 ( in my opinion it is really nice ) was one of my first set in collecting toy soldiers because I like the FIW history and his events.
I was curious about this set considering also the new ones coming ( what do you think about the new ones , courier de bois and the "long time expected" large canoe ? ) .
I hope to build a small diorama , in the next future , with all of them.
Thanks again , I have really appreciated your answer.

Just had a bit more than 15 inches of rain off cyclone Debbie and there's a few canoes out and about. Can 01 is the one with the captive?

A good snowy morning Fitzgibbon,

CAN01 is the one with the THREE Indian paddling --- very difficult to find at a right price {sm2}{sm2}

CAN02 is the one with the TWO Frenchmen --- somewhat difficult to find at a right price{sm2}

CAN03 is the one with the TWO Indians and ONE Captive --- available{sm4}

CAN04 is the one with removable Indians shooting (Comes in two variations){sm4}

CAN05 is the one with the Indian, pushing off and cargo --- available{sm4}

The John Jenkins web page has nice shots of these sets. http://www.johnjenkinsdesigns.com/

Also JJD has RSF08 -with TWO Indians carrying the canoe over head. You can use the two Indians to carry all sorts of things. I did a tutorial on how to build wigwams for less than $5 in the "instructional section" a while back and you can see them carrying logs, etc.

In addition Frontline Figures made some really nice canoe sets with Indians and French (??) figures that come and go in the for sale section, on the consignment section and on Ebay.

They work well together ... IMHO

The "Large Canoe" or War Canoe will be paddling its way to me, as soon as the ice clogged rivers free up a bit.
Also a second set of rowers will join them.

My Indian village diorama will be a "PEACEFUL" scene and no real fighting. I like CAN06 and CAN07 since they are not shooting or attacking anything.
The RSF Indian figures that are in shooting or attacking poses are going to be of a scene (or theme of ) an INDIAN Olympics.

So they will be shooting at targets or trees or something :confused: I haven't thought of yet.

I will be looking forward to seeing your diorama and (maybe "borrow" :wink2: a few ideas!)

This is an idea for a next JJ canoe set, larger and longer ...:p never say never ...
It is good for "peaceful" diorama ,
hope you like this idea even if it could be very expensive ...{sm2}

YES ... that would be a winner.

If John released the Canoe and the figures separately (or maybe in pairs of two) then you can spread the cost over a few purchases.

You may remember that he did this with the Quebec Landing Barge, Battle on the Plains of Abraham and the figure sets.

Oh yes,

What a beautiful display that would be.
I think John would be up for it.
Like Larry said, he made a much larger one already, not a canoe, but the Quebec Landing Barge, and that holds 37 figures total.
Thanks much for posting it, and let's see how we can promote the idea :wink2: ^&grin
