Andy a few questions if I may. Can you tell us please if there will be a crew for it with door gunner(s).

Will you be doing different versions, Marines and Army and I'm sure our Australian mates will want to know if they'll be an RAAF version ?

Also roughly when it'll be released and how much ?

Will a transparent upright part of stand be available ?

This huey is part of the wooden warbirds series - this isn't the mass produced variety, I believe (and based on price, feel good about that belief)

Correct, this is part of the Connoisseur series. Anything with the AIR prefix is a wooden model. Please note the price, $1,495.00.

The one posted by Obee is also wood and very rare, hence expensive, if you can find it.

I believe there was one shown at the London Show, was there not.

I happen to have the Figarti version. Found it in Chicago two years ago. It’s quite nice.

I assume there are still some Hueys made by CS around. I looked at eBay and there is a Figarti one for $450. Pricey but not as expensive as the wooden model.

Yep technology certainly has made great improvements over the older one.

Yes, hopefully as there must be a lot of collectors who would like one in their collection at a reasonable price. I'll wait and see if K&C do a mass produced one I think.

I have several of these and I'm not sure it's technology but a new way of making them (although I guess that's technology too) as they are all hand carved in the Philippines just as the older pre 2000 aircraft were (I have several of those too). The detail in the newer ones are better and the cockpits look very realistic. However, diecast models tend to have more detail than wooden planes.

The newer ones use some sort of a glaze that gives the appearance of not being wood at all and probably prevents cracking because over time the wood on the older ones did crack. Fortunately, I have only one of those; I avoided any that exhibited cracks.

The first Vietnam series was released in the mid-1990’s, and included a Firebase Diorama, the Huey, an M113 Amored Personnel Carrier, a First Cav Aircrew modeled on the characters from Apocalypse Now, a couple of sets of Marines, a set of Vietcong, and a set of villagers. In extremely limited production there was also a Resin M48 Duster anti-aircraft tank and a Tet Offensive Street Scene Diorama. I can post some photos of the 1990’s Vietnam releases from my collection, of anyone is interested in seeing the early stuff.

Might sound odd, but I think that I actually prefer the older version of the Huey to the new one.

Seems to capture the spirit of the actual machine.

I also recall Matt from FL saying at the Westcoaster a few years back that they had one completely modeled, but there was no indication of when it would go into production. But I would imagine it's somewhere in the pipeline if all the design work is done.

At $1500 for the K&C Huey, the CS huey is a steal. I have 2 of the 3 versions of the CS, medivac & gunship and am very happy with them. The problem with the CS version is finding a door gunner, no one has any left.

That's the one. I had a portion of that diorama (from what I understand, about 4 were made, and I managed to buy a piece of one from Matt Murphy at the Hobby Bunker).
