You guys are all so humorous but I missed the joke. ZCW not ACW. I am sorry I don't get it.
Please enlighten me.

PS we are all pretty dour and humorless in Zuid Afrika

Damian he caught the post of the photo and posted it while I was editing it. I'm figuring that he found it humorus picking up the ZCW as the Zulu Civil War before I made the correction....The Lt.

Hi There! These are only a few of the Iron Brigade figures that will be offered in the 1st Quarter 2008 catalog. The catalogs have been printed and some are being handed out at a trade show in the UK this weekend, so we should be seeing them soon. The color is also one of the first Iron Brigade flags that we will be doing...the National color of the Second Wisconsin Infantry 1861-1863.
Thanks...Ken Osen

Hi Ken,

Fantastic figures! Personally I believe you are producing the best ACW figures on the market today.
A question, I am assuming these figures are/will be additions to the Jackson in the Valley series (although I notice you state that the National color is circa 61-63) which would put it about the time Gibbon took over the Brigade and introduced the black Hardee hat and the long frock coat your figures are wearing. But he also introduced the famous/infamous white gaiters which your figures are not wearing.
I am aware that they proved very unpopular with the men due to getting filthy and quickly deteriorating and that within a year eg Gettysburg very few of the Iron Brigade troops were still wearing them and they were discontinued soon after.
Not a criticism by any means just curious, if indeed they are part of the Jackson series, why you decided to omit them?.

Good morning everyone.

I agree that the four new figures look great. I can't wait to see the rest. I'm an avid ACW collector, and my favorite subject is the Iron Brigade, so I think these will all become "must haves".

Regarding the time period, the color bearer has the 1st Division I Corps badge on the front of his hat. The soldier on the right of the photo appears to have one as well, though the picture is not as distinct. I think this would indicate that these represent the brigade in 1863, after Hooker authorized the Corps badge system.

Is Britains starting a new series -- Gettysburg perhaps? If they are doing Gettysburg, I think it would be great to offer a figure of John Burns, the War of 1812 veteran and local resident who fought alongside several regiments on the first day of the battle.

Sharp eyes! You are right on the money as far as the time period chosen for these Iron Brigade figures. As you must know, I live in Michigan and as a result I thought it would be nice to represent the brigade during the fighting at Gettysburg. These new figures should work very nicly with the set I sculpted for Don Troiani of the 24th Michigan during the first days fighting at Gettysburg. There will be additional flags added from time to time also, along with a few more figures in sack coats and felt hats that would be pretty universal...and also fit the ticket for Western use if the corps badge is omitted. We will be moving about a bit as far as our ACW range goes...to include highly requested units, uniform styles and under represented services in the next few catalogs.
As always we look forward to seeing requests to 'fatten' our lists!
Thanks for the kind comments and suggestions, Ken
