  • John I am the same way. Except I do not paint that many hours. It must be wonderful to have such a wealth of so many wonderful castings so close at hand and so reasonably priced. A fiver? SOLD!! Sometimes I think I was born on the wrong continent.
I can hardly wait to see what comes out of the cupboard next. I have not finished the Nappys I found but they are complete enough to let sit for awhile. Have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow, chores you know. How many hours do you paint a week? Any favourite era or figures? Mine are the plastic Spartans. Favourite figures for the crusades? I have asmall collection of the Frontline/Altaya.
Cool John. I have some toy soldiers that I am restoring right now and a commision to finish. Also looking at Flames of War miniatures.
You do wonderful toy soldier work. Friendship request sent. Us painter types should stick together.

I am thinking of starting a painting club to share tips and ideas fur us painter types. What do you think?

    Hi John,
Thank you for your wonderful comments. The Hougoumont diorama sits on a board thats approx. 3/4 of a metre. Its not particularly big. I suppose it's the camera angles that give it a greater depth of field, hence creating the illusion of greater distance. Which photo were you refering to?
    Best Regards, Clinton
    Hi John,

Currently I am working on getting a few more of the Britains Zulus and also working on a little dio base to display them on.
    Hi John,

Wonderful new comissioned pieces. Is that George V on the white horse? Can I ask where you got those from, they look like HM of GB horses?

    Cheers

    Hi John
The Pipe Band is from Marlborough - www.marlboroughtoysoldiers.com/
Thank you, you have a great collection yourself. I find it very inspiring looking at your Crusader diorama.
Time permitting it will send me back to the drawing board.

    Hi John,
    What's the buzz your end?
I'll be painting a 120mm scale French Foreign Legion for a friend. I'll probably use an acrylic undercoat and go over with artist oils.
I've been busy assembling and painting my own castings to complete my own sets. I have added an update section to my own website. Also attempting to write a couple of articles for the magazines.

    Hey John,

    hi john,
Just been looking at your albums again & had to say how much i love your Sgt Ewart of the Royal Scots Greys, it is truely a masterpiece what company is it by? & how long did it take you to paint it?
    Craig,
    Hi John.
What a job,I would love a job like that.I have the Edinburgh Tattoo 1992.I`ll have to watch that again.I also collect Military Band vidoes and Edinburgh Tattoo programs.I was playing in the Royal Canadian Reg pipes and Drums 2002 and Canadian Scottish Reg 2004.I now play with an Airforce pipeband.I live on an airforce base(CFB Shearwater) but I`m in the Navy.I think I told you I have 2 more bands on the go.RSDG and RM military bands. The RSDG was the Reg I was going to join when I lived in Edinburgh in 1987(8 months). But thats a long story.
    Cheers

    Hi John,

My letter was published in the latest issue of Toy Soldier Collector 24, and they did a great article on the marvelous Britains conversions of Freddie Green!
