There are four figures described as "non-Britains" in the London Bridge catalogue - two Indians, and two Scots. They have a different ID number series than the Britains recasts: C-001 to C-004. The recasts start with C-101. The four don't really resemble any Britains figures. They are...
To add to the above reply. Tour first and second picture at the top show Highlanders in tropical dress, in second grade paint. The firing 'half-booted" Guards are from before 1933. They became full-trousered at that time, and the prone figures got a new, legs-apart sculpt. The marching Guard...
Hi Tom. Sorry I've missed your posts until today - I rarely look at this Forum anymore due mainly to lack of activity on the subjects that I'm interested in. My paramount interest is Britains hollowcast figures, and their modern iterations made by Hocker and by Hiriart. The formerly prolific...
Tom, there is a Britains Collectors group on Facebook which often has hollowcast figure content. Your Hussar is from Britains set 12 11th Hussars, the 1903-40 version of that set. "Spindly horses" usually refers to second grade castings. These were simplified figures with fewer paint colours...
Second grade (simplified) paint, ie black trousers instead of blue with stripe. Foot Guards. This pose would never have had a "Coronation" colour for the base.
The figure you posted is one of the two Aides-de-Camp in that set, not an officer. That style of horse has become known as the ADC horse when used with other heads, as in the postwar version of set 28's officer.
Sort of hard to tell from the photo, but he's second grade casting (which explains the one-eared horse), either 1st Dragoons or 2nd Dragoon Guards. Both regiments had black plumes. As far as Farriers... Both Life Guard and Horse Guard Farriers wear blue tunics. Life Guard Farrier has a black...
Jaime Hiriart was posting very regularly on Facebook as of last month at least. It looked like one was expected to DM him for more info about the sets he posted.
Dragon, Zvezda, and Masterbox all have plastic kit volkssturm figures currently available in 1/35. There's also a kit from Dragon of Berlin defenders ("Nachtjager") using things like a fliegerfaust and a complicated night vision system. You might have to search the secondary market for that...
Victor, are you going to be altering the Wolseley pattern helmets? That style of pith helmet was not introduced until 1899, a year after Omdurman. The 21st wore the Colonial pattern at the time of the battle.
He's in the Nostalgia pamphlet, as Fiji Armed Constabulary, 1900. It also shows the set's officer in a longer jacket, with sword carried upright in the right hand, and the scabbard in the left. The brochure is frustrating in that it has lots of pictures and no set numbers. Your casting looked...
Approximately 300,000 African Americans served in the Vietnam War. In 1965, African Americans filled 31% of the ground combat battalions in Vietnam, while the percentage of African Americans as a minority in the general population was 12%. In 1965, African Americans suffered 24% of the U.S...
