  • Hi Ken, I am very sorry for your father. Hope and wish the very best. Concerning flats, I mixed as many different producers as possible to get a very realistic scene. I have two dioramas with my favorite cavalry: french cuirassiers. I will try to make some photos next time to show you. Nice weekend Marcus
    Hi Ken,
I'm fine thanks, how about you? That's an interesting strategy. Especially with 90mm... Till now I have been going for multiples too. I think for now I'll stick to multiples for Napoleonics ( singles for cavalry ), I am very interested in Little Legion and Alexanders Toy Soldiers and these UK brands are easier to get. I have a few Tradition sets too but I think I'll focus on Little Legion for infantry and Alexanders for cavalry. For FIW, another great interest of mine, with the wonderful Britains Classics, the strategy I am thinking of following is mostly one of each with small groups for some regiments, which seems to be Britains' strategy too:D. I'll really be expecting their future releases for this period, action poses with glossy groups and matte figures seem to be coming up, sometime next year:D. I am also watching Tradition's sets for this period, I am not sure I'll keep waiting for too many groups from Britains. Also, I just don't like the faces on the J Jenkins figures ( I've only seen them on photo ), figures which otherwise look excellent. That's what I am planning till the end of the year, but I'll probably lose some grip when I find some Imperial or Premier sets somewhere:D.

    Paulo
Hi Ken, thanks a lot for your good wishes. Yes indead I like a lot of historical events. Mostly 19th and 20th century, but I also have romans, vikings (ELASTOLIN) and some flat figures to the German Bauernkrieg (about 1525). I think I am going to prepare an album to show my collection. I took a look at your very fine album and I was very impressed about your collection (Berlin 1938, Black Watch!) and also about your England Trip (Chatsworth- I never was there but it is a prefered target for me since some years!)
Will you come againg to Europe, esp. will you visit the London toy soldier show in December? Best regards Marcus
I’m taking the time to write this message (in alphabetical order) to each and every one of the FRIENDS I have here on this forum – so it might take some time, but it’s heart-felt.

I have been accused by the TF administrator of being a racist. How anyone who has worked and lived in almost every continent in the world, and in addition is married to a Chinese Lady, and counts a Nigerian and an Indian Moslem among his closest friends can be a racist is beyond me.
Nevertheless, the constant threatening PM’s, bans, rebukes, and so on, received from the administrators and owners of this site have convinced me that I’m no longer welcome by them.
I have therefore decided to cease contributing to this forum forthwith.
Thank you all for making my membership here a vibrant and informative one, and best wishes to you all in your future toy soldier collecting.

    Regards

My projects are: first to add the new winter tiger (CS) to my battle of the bulge. Maybe some more figarti winter Germans. Second I would like to enforce my elephant battery with 6 horsmen (15th Bengal lancers). Producer is alymer from Spain. These should be my first order to alymer. I hope they have a quality comparable with TRADITION.
My gloss collection is primarily Napoleonic era (Tradition mostly) but I also have some W Britains Victorian era sets. Having spent 16 years give or take a few in Europe, mostly Germany, I am fascinated by the mid 18th to 19th century history of said continent. I also have some Beau Geste sets. That elephant battery sounds like a very nice piece. As for pictures it's really your preference. I might suggest that posting on threads works if you are putting up pictures that pertain to a specific topic on that thread or a particular manufacturer being discussed otherwise an album on your user cp works for showing general collections, either way is fine:). I've had a busy month this August acquiring several K&C sets from their Crusaders line, WWI and WWII. Now it's back to the 19th century and Napoleons Imperial Guard! How about you, what is your current project?
    Hi Saber or Ken,
you know I am a new member, so I have a lot of questions. I could read, that you collect also glossy figures. So as me. I bought last week in London a very rare elefant batterie of the british/indian army about 1898. the producer is Kingcast from whom I never ever heard.Maybe in the next weeks I will show some photos of my collection. Is it better to make an album on my membersite or to show the pictures via forum as a new threat ? What historical periods do you collect? best regards Hadrian (in fact my real name is Marcus)
hi Ken, regarding the new K&C WW2 releases, i'm quite pleased as i find the quality to be much improved. However with rising figure costs, this is at the least i expected. I cant shake the feeling that K&C is cutting the competition's route, after all, its been quite a while open knowledge that HB is coming up with the flame thrower series. add this to the Horch disagreement K&C had with the Collectible Showcase. And the rather out of the blue announcement of the upcoming Komet aircraft and 'secret' Tiger. Dont get me wrong, i'm a huge K&C fan, but all this troubled me a bit. The SDK 250 seems a very useful piece, pairing them with the just recent normandy Heer germans. But i may wait a while, as i'm getting a taste for Figarti's vehicles. Their figures still pale compared to K&C of course, but their realistic and gritty look is really starting to warm me. i have a very strong hunch, we'll be seeing a really great vehicle from Figarti at the Chicago show, and i wont be surprised if its an SDK 251 (a bigger half track) or a heavy german tank - Panther, Jagdpanther or King Tiger. But figures wise, K&C still is the way to go.
The V2 vehicle i'm purchasing, though the price is rather extortionate. But not the Panzer IVs (winter - tank defect, DAK - poor crews). How bout you Ken?
Well for the Conte plastics I am only judging from the many pictures that Conte has posted, some of which I have posted here, but they look every bit as detailed (or more so) as the metal Spartans. I have most of what I need but could use more of those but honestly if the new plastics are as good as they say, they would be a much more cost effective addition, even after painting up to Conte level.
I am with you on the EoI delay, it may work out for the best.
I will post the French infrantry I have but I was waiting for some damaged in shipping that will be replaced with the restock. FL has great customer service but they were just overwhelmed with the popularity of the initial release. Of course, I think that is good news for us collectors because now we will definitely see more.
    Cheers, Bill
    Hi Ken,
Well I am waiting for things mostly at this point. I have a full set of the Conte Plastic Spartans on order and might add another for painting as Greek opponents. I have be drawn into the Napoleonics now with First Legions amazing new sculpts and have some French while waiting for Brits and cavalry. I am also waiting for the Conte Zulus and of course, the EoI Romans. Hopefully they will not all come at the same time.
    Cheers Bill
Well, what can I say YOU'RE THE MAN! I can't wait to get my hands on the SL DAVOUT set:D:). Good to know there will be some additional French Line releases. I'm still considering the extra Highlander platoon to put on the far right of my formation. They would be some of the action poses, then I could put the Currasiers surprising them in the flank. What's your opinion?
    Saber

Great to hear from you ! YES - I held a gun to Andy's head and said "MAKE ME A NAPOLEON !" :)

I am wanting tho see some more French Line Troops as well - my understanding we will be getting a new French Line Artillery Set and some more new Russian figures.

Look forward to them all !
    Hi Ken,
I love the Highlanders, the Austrians/Hungarians, the Swiss Voltigeurs, the Hanoverians, well, all really...I tend to look at the colorful uniforms but I also like to have a wide representation of all nationalities involved, like you. I believe Little Legion and Alexanders Toy Soldiers have a wide and varied range, Alexanders has Austrians and Prussians. Tradition's range is also very nice. And for basics, not a very wide range but the one that probably has the best quality: IMPERIAL PRODUCTIONS ( boy, so hard to get for me...). I´ve recently found a new French company that makes Portuguese, Hungarian and other Napoleonic very nice glossy figures ( http://www.alliagedequalite.com/ ), who also sell on E-Bay.
As you see, this alone gets me into deep trouble, but I also collect WWI and FIW both in gloss, with an eye for future FIW releases in matte. This will probably stop me from getting into K&C WWI, although I love those figures and the range looks very promising. Food for thought come September:D.

    Regards,
    Paulo
    Hi Ken,
Indeed Miniwelt are the same scale as K&C. On the new NA158 SL, I don't have the room for it and now I am collecting mostly glossy Napoleonics ( L. Legion, Imperial, Alexanders are my main Napoleonic focus ).

    Regards,
    Paulo
Hi, got your comment on my Napoleonic Black Watch diorama picture, guess this must be the way to reply: thanks, the color bearer and the drummer ( notice the different bases ) are from Miniwelt ( also made in Russia ). You can find them on E-bay and they have a website. If you need anymore info, shoot!

    Cheers,
    Paulo
Toy Soldier situation is MASS CONFUSION!!! Got the Rommel Horch today along with Gen Urquhart from MG. The real problem is I made a momentous decision today... I decided to switch which rooms my TSs will be displayed in:eek:. I've been up all night swiching my Naps out of my reading room and replacing them with WWII & WWI. It's really all SL NA158s fault I've got to have that piece since it's got Marshall Davout in it and up till now I've restrained myself of purchasing any French K&C Nap Infantry. Alas, the Iron Marshall must have his Corps to command so I'm forced to reallocate space. I won't even mention my Highlander addiction:D:rolleyes: My Naps will now go into a room which has yet to be built:eek::D but his on the horizon, hopefully:). Thank goodness my daughter thinks helping me is:cool:. Good news is I think I've got my LAH laid out the way I want it just need to construct the base with roadbeds etc. I will try to post some pics of it on KVs Bloody Mary SG, hopefully tommorow. It won't be done but the general layout is all set up. Next purchase is going to be some French Imperial Guard and some Saracens for my MK series... right after the Elephant SP and another Sherman. What's up with your collection? Are you planning on getting the EA Crusader?
Legionaire Saber- Report IMMEDIATELY to the Field of Mars- I have responded to your question and am interested in your thoughts. 506!!

    Garrius Owenus!! :))
