I have heard through the grapevine that Randy Bond aka Polar Bear is in hospice. That is a real shame as I always found Randy one of the most interesting and intelligent members here.

I have often wondered what had happened to Randy. It's been a long time since I've heard from him. We shared an appreciation of the music of Diana Krall.

Not good news. He has been a great asset to the forum over many years and me personally in the early years. Really hope he is doing ok. Robin.

All,

Randy and I have been very close friends for over 17 years having met thru this forum. About 5 years ago he was diagnosed with Lowey-body dementia and wasn't able to continue here on Treefrog.

I've been in touch with Randy and his wife this whole time and sadly, yes, Randy is now in hospice care in a private facility.

As many of us know, dementia of all sorts is unpredictable. At times things seem to level off then drop suddenly. These fluctuations in Randy's condition continue to occur. At this point there is no telling how long he will last.

It is a terrible disease to be sure. Randy was such a scholar and loved sharing his knowledge of history and his dio's with us here on the forum. When I get the "final" update from his wife, I'll be sure to post the news.

That's a great shame, yes a terrible disease. Hospice nurses tend to be very compassionate, so hopefully his final days will be as comfortable as can be. So sad.

I agree wholeheartedly with Steve, and wish Randy the best in his final days.

Thank you Mark!

Unfortunately I've been front seat to a few who have bounced back and forth in and out of hospice with dementia related illnesses and it is hard to watch and be a part of.
Those palliative care nurses and care teams deserve so much kudos for being there for the families in those situations.
