Things that annoy me (1 Viewer)

Interesting that the stock market is holding steady today. It's even up a bit.

big comeback...started over 500 down...
A cynic might say that they don't object to war and rising oil costs. Profitable to some. Maybe they also have some optimism that this will be of short duration and perhaps result in greater stability in the Middle East.

I'm not very good at predicting the market's how's and why's...

about as good as your football predictions...:)

just kidding...I remember you went 4-4 right in the college playoffs this year...

Why does a single torpedo cost over $4 million dollars? It got the job done but wouldn't a few WWII era torpedoes have done the same job?
I saw where Raytheon had a contract with the US government to supply our military with 57 Tomahawk missiles per year; that number just got bumped.

To 1,000 per year.

The problem is you cant predict the market.

Winning and success are often meaningless.

Say you have stock in a company, they report great profits, great projected revenue, job growth etc., yet the day of those reports the stock drops like a rock.

Say you have stock in another company, they report no profits, a huge loss in revenue and limited growth yet their stock rises to record levels.

That is like your favorite college football team winning by a final score of 21-0 but they still lose the game.

A lot of reports that US missile stocks of all kind are rapidly being diminished in the war with Iran and supplying the Ukraine. Production cannot be ramped up rapidly.

World Baseball Classic. This smacks of desperation by MLB. They are trying to conjure up some of the international hockey enthusiasm, but it doesn't work for a sport like baseball. And some of the matchups are laughable. Japan was up 13-0 on some team in the 4th inning. They need a little league mercy rule.

I'm now paying the equivalent of $7.11 per US Gallon of petrol, where I am in the UK
A friend in Germany tells me it is now to equivalent of $8.78 per US Gallon !

As you know, he goes crazy when someone disagrees with him 🤪
everybody gets a little passionate...but the name calling and personal insults have got to stop...
no reason for them...
Julie asked us to be civil and stop personal insults...no name calling...
whether anyone's opposing posts are controversial or not...
I'm not trying to moderate...not my job...but I think it's okay if we just "state our facts" in a respectful courteous manner...

You can call these countermeasures and this will not be popular, however….

Springing forward in the US is awful.

I absolutely hate the longer days filled with more sunlight.

Very moving ceremony yesterday when the deceased American military members returned home. It's been a miracle that more have not died under the circumstances. Hopefully Iran sees the light for once and surrenders.

The AI explanation for the recent historic drop in US violent crime is very amusing. "Community violence intervention" programs are apparently the key in stopping murders. It does make me wonder about bias in the algorithms. If this were a neutral process, there might be other important factors like closing the border etc.

"The recent drop in US crime, particularly a historic decline in homicides, is driven by a combination of normalized post-pandemic life, improved police strategies, and economic stabilization. Key factors include enhanced, data-driven "precision policing," community violence intervention programs, a return to work for young men in low-income neighborhoods, and reduced court backlogs."

Community violence intervention. These so called programs do nothing. It's a feel good way for some people to line their pockets. The way you stop crime are send people to prison if convicted don't give repeat offenders probation. Do not release people charged with serious crime out on a small bail, and let the police be the police. Stop suspicious people. Stop & frisk. This is not racial profiling. If you are in a black neighborhood who are you going to focus on, Asians? If a white person comes to a black neighborhood stop him and see what he doing these, I would suspect for buying drugs. I remember when I was working all day long you would hear over the radio, Wanted for a robbery a black male, wanted for a burglary a black male, wanted for a purse snatching, a black male. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out who you should stop and check out. As for homicides for a majority you really can't stop them. They are not random but people who know one another and or spur of the moment incidents. Plus as for reporting you can cook the books.

They have it.
