I haven't shared this to put the boot into the Brit's.......instead more to understand their military's decline and why?

Yep, very few surprises to me there Toddy and nothing will improve all the time the current lot are in charge and unable to even defend the country from an enemy within.
I would say more if I were an American, but one needs to be prudent and circumspect.

The reason our PM didn't send a ship is because we don't have one .....

47 tiny coastal subs nearly starved us to death in WW2 (when we still had the largest navy in the world), but there is no need to panic, we will be fine (even with tens more millions to feed), the government has said so.

I keep thinking how our military veterans must be turning in their graves when you consider the state of the world right now…..

Because they, not only Fathers and Grandfathers generations, but our own as well, that gave their all, and all they did has been betrayed by the politicians

No change imo, politicians rarely consider the public's or their armed forces interest, they instigate actions they hope will reflect best on them, always have, always will.

I would like to see a larger UK military. Did Wellesley rely on the sepoys or Spanish? Why did Gordon go to Khartoum if the Egyptians weren't "up to it." I think it's time for better UK armed forces.

The increasing division between NATO and the US will ensure an increase in the UK military capability.

The increasing division between NATO and the US will ensure an increase in the UK military capability.

It will increase the need, but the current Government priority seems not to be defence, but to increase benefit payments to those who are not working.

Over 2% of GDP in our weak economy is not enough to defend this Island and keep essential imports safe, we should know that after the battles of Britain and the Atlantic. Poland has a better grasp with their history and are aiming for 5% of their strengthening economy now.

Even some of the press ask are we effectively defenceless. I don't know, but suspect we may be clueless.
