Cutting it fine (1 Viewer)

Nicely done, unique and interesting. I wonder what happens next...
Love your Roman scenes,
Paddy

Thanks Paddy.
It's lots of fun doing a quick set up like this, might do a more involved scene sometime in the future.
As to what happened next, I think you know the answer !😱

I guess the answer is: a terrible thing for those people and theirs, but a great archeological gift. Mom & Dad were there for 5 days. Loved it. At least they brought back pics! (I was 'busy' in college - no, actually I had midterm exams coming so I was actually busy).
Anyway, a good Roman History buff should have it all and your collection seems to be coming close...
Best Wishes
Paddy for Rome-loving Pats

Yes absolutely Paddy, it will of been a terrible catastrophe for the people and would of no doubt have been talked about far and wide across the Empire with the news taking months to reach the furthest frontiers in shark contrast to today's media overload. But I'm sure in the telling of the event, there would of been great distortions of the facts as today with the extra dimension of the will of the Gods !
Shame you missed out on the trip as so much to see, with the added bonus of great food and drink, but as Andy would tell you, never say never !
Certainly lots of possibilities of stories to be told, of course it depends on the imagination and ingenuity of Andy and Collectors to tell them !

We are doomed, we all are doomed, don’t panic. Interesting scene Steve. Being on the wharf, what’s needed is a boat for sure. Robin.

Absolutely brilliant Steve. Now that's what I call using your imagination to create a unique display that tells a story not often, if ever, seen in our hobby 👏👏 . . . "Thar she blows!" 😉

Yes, I did think about using my LOJ fisherman's boat, and may well redo the scene with that and other accessories, barrels, Amphora, crates, on the wharf, but not having much time this week, I decided to go ahead on do this quick set up whilst the idea was with me !
But being on the wharf, and a boat available to these refugees, with Vesuvius in the background about to blow, time is tight for these folk, who are cutting it fine in leaving.
Of course with your Roman Galley Robin, you could do a diorama of Pliny the elder mounting a rescue mission ! Though as history will tell you, it didn't end too well for him, dying on the beach, overcome by fumes I think !

Thanks Mike.
Yes, I think you're right, would make a good dramatic display for a museum if expanded perhaps.
