NOR013-NOR025 Waffen-SS for the Battle of Normandy!!

It's a typo. The price on their site is $139.95.

“If dealers were allowed to discount prices would be lower to collectors”

Not disagreeing with free enterprise, but that same freedom allows me to dispise those that get in between typical transactions to just make their cut. :)

“If dealers were allowed to discount prices would be lower to collectors”

Personally I'm all in favor of free market, and have purchased from other collectors at a fair market price in the past. Problem I have is with scalpers, who are only in it to make a buck, and not in it for enjoyment of the hobby. Same types that line up at the stores in the wee hours of the...

NOR013-NOR025 Waffen-SS for the Battle of Normandy!!

Hi Frank, Thanks for taking the time to post the head shots. Much appreciated. Definitely look better in your photographs. The stock photos on FL's website don't do justice to the detail sometimes, which I think may be part of the face issue on my part. I've always been more impressed when...

“If dealers were allowed to discount prices would be lower to collectors”

Been sniped way to many times trying to pick up older sets from a couple different manufacturers by him, to only turn around and see it listed for a ridiculous amount. Turns me right off even wanting the piece any longer. There will always be something new of more interest vs. feeding a scalper.

AWI - Preparing for the British 22nd Foot

Excellent! Thanks for posting. The AWI range is my favorite, and I hope to pick up some of these latest releases after I finish completing the first releases.

Hum... I don't think I'd use that individual's auctions as a baseline. You've hit upon one of the biggest buy low, sell high, speculators I've seen on eBay. Filter him out and you'll see a more reasonable picture.

NOR013-NOR025 Waffen-SS for the Battle of Normandy!!

To get back to the positive, I'll be picking up a number of this first release, most likely starting with the MG42 team. Have wanted that set since seeing it in the Workbench area months ago. Hopefully they produce some early war SS troops over time. The variety of camouflage always piqued my...

NOR013-NOR025 Waffen-SS for the Battle of Normandy!!

I would answer that by saying I compare the faces against other FL lines, not other manufacturers, otherwise this is simply baiting to get into another pointless us vs. them argument. I have FL Stalingrad, DAK, Crusaders, Napoleonics and AWI, and the WW2 figures have the least amount of...

NOR013-NOR025 Waffen-SS for the Battle of Normandy!!

My guess would be it is because many of the early WW2 figures have a similar facial sculpt, and overall not much expression/emotion is rendered. I have a number of Russian and German figures, but that is the one thing that bugs me. The FL AWI and Napoleonics I have display much more facial...

    Flaking Paint!

Thank you for the apology and clarification, I appreciate it. I respect everyone's opinion myself personally, and enjoy this hobby quite a bit. This thread was to simply collect some data/feedback on a situation I had not run into before in any serious manner. I suspect, as with most things in...

    Flaking Paint!

Hum... not "stirring the pot" personally, I take a much more pragmatic view of things. Every vendor, in every arena, will have problems from time to time. To believe a company is 100% perfect is unrealistic. I posted my pictures to see if others have had similar issues. If they haven't, then it...

    Flaking Paint!

Contacted the previous owner, a member of this forum, and don't believe these were stored or handled inappropriately. I purchased a few items from him, and didn't have a problem with everything. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to most things, so don't handle figures unless my...

    Flaking Paint!

I've never seen anything that severe as well. I have 400+ sets, and have seen nicks, dings, small chips/flakes, cracking, etc. but nothing this bad. The figures haven't been handled much, and had only been displayed briefly by a very conscientious collector prior to myself acquiring them...

    Flaking Paint!

Hi Guy, Mixed up some Vallejo tanned flesh color and painted some of the spots on the legs. After everything had dried I touched the new paint, and it didn't come up. I then tried scratching it, and it didn't come up either, so I think the primer is okay (at least the Vallejo paint stuck to...

    Flaking Paint!

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. I don't think the figure had anything put on it. The leather is glossy and the rest is matte as usual (no different than any others I have), but I'm checking just in case. This actually reminded me that I did have this happen before, just not as bad...

    Flaking Paint!

Has anyone experienced paint flaking off a K&C figure similar to what is showing in the attached photo? I'm able to do minor touch ups, etc., but this effectively needs a strip and repaint. The paint comes off on your fingers if you handle the figure. Seems to be mostly the flesh and sand...

Texas Toy Soldier Show Figure for Sale - PM 38

What about the situation of a dealer inflating a popular limited release item? The 38(T) in question is a new release, and the one with the figure appears to have sold well (good amount of demand). If something is out for awhile and retires you have at least had a chance to get it at retail...

Texas Toy Soldier Show Figure for Sale - PM 38

What is scary with that is it is a newly released, limited/planned production, item. These just hit the streets in the last couple days, so it isn't like it has been out for awhile, and then retired. By that logic a dealer could jack up any newly released, but limited production, item since they...
