More Post Office Woes, a New One!

[I had some issues with a few international buyers. I only had about 5 international bidders that won auctions. Two never paid at all. It was bad timing for me (I'd sold most of my stuff already so not much to relist with on ebay--I sold a a higher percentage of goods when I had 30-50 auctions...

    Bid Retractions

Amazing that the buyer doesn't have to cooperate w/ USPS or whatever carrier when reporting damaged in shipping. I see they have up to 60 days to report it to USPS insurance.

    Bid Retractions

The guy I reported never did pay up so I relisted the items. Funny though because he did contact me regarding shipping on another auction. I replied re that and mentioned he had not paid for the other auctions. Not a word and nothing after I reported it to ebay and they did whatever they do...

    Bid Retractions

I just got my first bid retraction this AM. I put many (87) auctions on last Sunday and this one got a bid right away. It was for 4 Britains or Britains type officers, a mixed lot. The opening amount was $10. Now, 6 days later, the bidder retracted the bid stating he entered the wrong amount. He...

Help identifying maker of two different toy soldiers

Thanks. Any idea on the Orientals? There are others that are similar position charging that are not Orientals w/ similar markings on the base. Figure they are all made by the same maker but don't know who it is.

Help identifying maker of two different toy soldiers

Sorry, my pics were all too big. Trying to put both Zulu and Oriental on here.

Help identifying maker of two different toy soldiers

Are those the ones with the numbers on the bottom of the stands? Thanks.

Help identifying maker of two different toy soldiers

Thanks, but no those are not Imperial. I posted that auction in the summer when I assumed (foolishly I admit now) that if a Zulu was in a box labeled Imperial Zulus that the Zulu was indeed an Imperial Zulu. Imperial Zulus have smaller round stands. I will try to post a side pic. Having...

Help identifying maker of two different toy soldiers

I am trying to sell some toy soldiers, about 1000 in all. Most I can identify the maker and what the soldiers are supposed to be. I have a set of Zulus with numbers on the base (ZW 701 for one). I don't know what company made them. Also have some other guys, an Oriental is shown, with numbers on...

    British Bulldogs

Hello, Apparently my dad had quite a few British Bulldog troops in his collection that I am now trying to sell. Are they just Britains recast? They look just like old Britains other that they are solid cast instead of hollow. But the figures and postures sure look old Britains. Thanks, Dan

Pre war vs post war Britains

Hello, I am selling most of my late father's Britains and other toy soldiers collection. Some of the Britains were bought in the 1930s which seems to bring a much better price than those made after the war. Is there any way to tell which ones I have are pre-war or not? An example would be set...

    Bid Retractions

I have wanted to retract a few times but it was only because I foolishly bid more than I probably should have bid. Maybe I found the same item for much less later. I haven't retracted though because there has always been a bigger fool than I was that has saved my hide. I have cancelled a bid...

What can I expect to receive from a dealer (selling to him)?

I really only wanted a dealer that was going to take 100s of them off my hands, not 50 guys or whatever he bought. That's fine in that I learned that dealers aren't all that interested in a collection. I don't think he took all of the best stuff. He got a few good things but there are quite a...

What can I expect to receive from a dealer (selling to him)?

Actually I don't know much of what I have. Sure I have seen many/most of the displayed or played some with them but I don't know that much about them. I can tell the difference between Britains and non-Britains and those that have been altered and those that are original. Also can tell recasts...

    Britains Repainted !

Not sure as I am no expert by any means but I think repainting Britains close to how the originals were painted does not seem to damage the value as much as changing the paint completely--say painting redcoats in khaki. Yours look very good.

What can I expect to receive from a dealer (selling to him)?

Thanks for the info. The 25-35% was right on. Altered, especially ones w/ significant alterations, aren't worth much at all--$2-5 each or thereabouts. Recent stuff, especially Britains, not much interest as dealer has several to sell already. Older Britians that weren't converted/altered--some...

    Baseball 2015

Well until 1969 the only series that they could have won would have been the World Series and we know that didn't happen. Last WS win was in 1908 and that was before Wrigley Field. In 1984 and 1989 they could have won the NLCS but if they had they would have made it to the World Series. In 1998...

What can I expect to receive from a dealer (selling to him)?

I have inherited several hundred lead soldiers recently. Most are Britains, some recent but probably more are pre-1970s with some going back to pre-WWII. The older ones are not in terrible shape but they have been played with by kids so there is some wear. There are also a few Mignots and some...
