    Painting busts

I was impressed by the painting, especially the hair & beard. I am converting a Britain's Beefeater into a Chelsea Pensioner, and the hair needs to be grey, preferably with some texture. I know this is difficult with a 54mm figure, but my attempt looks very basic.

    Any ideas?

Yes I saw the links, very nice too. I agree they have that certain charm about them. If I do decide to repaint, I will be sure to post pics on here. Thanks JB.

    Any ideas?

Thank you Brad, you are as ever, a mine of information. It's nice to know there is no value, and I would really love to repaint, but as they were a handed-down gift, I may just leave them as is. Thanks again.

    Any ideas?

    Any ideas?

Thank you Wolfgang, that is great to know. I presume they were made around a hundred years ago?

    Any ideas?

I received this lot for Christmas, not the usual sort of thing I collect. I am assuming they are home casts. Anyone recognise the style?

Battle of Britain pilots ID please.

Hi Brad. Yes I have searched the box, no marks apart from a warning about the dangers of lead toys. Perhaps there was originally a paper slip, giving details. jazzeum, thanks, I have just looked at some pics of Good Soldiers, the bases look the same, and the style is similar. I have seen some...

Battle of Britain pilots ID please.

I received this boxed set as a birthday gift, they are 54mm, solid, and obviously there are no marks on the bases. The box seems a little generic. Anyone seen anything similar?

    Who are we?

Sorry, I can't help either, but I do like them. Are they 54mm? The bases look a little large, but the detail is brilliant.

    Timpo GI Soldiers of WW2

Thanks Jonny, I have actually started repainting the figure. I had repainted before, copying the colours that were present, but it looks like someone had been dabbling before I got it. I will be finishing this one in gloss of course. p.s. Sorry about the blurred picture, this one looks a...

    54mm ID required please. WW2 Home front/ARP, possibly a re-cast Britains

Just for interest, I have had these for a while now, and always assumed they were home made (Prince August) I am now thinking they may be by Gerry Ford:-

    54mm ID required please. WW2 Home front/ARP, possibly a re-cast Britains

Thanks to Mike, I know who made theses now. Gerry Ford, (No, not the American one). There are some on ebay.co.uk at the moment:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GERRY-FORD-54mm-lead-models-4-CIVIL-DEFENCE-Figures-from-the-Blitz-WWII-/121320687557?pt=UK_Toys_Games_ToySoldiers_EH&hash=item1c3f46c7c5 and...

    54mm ID required please. WW2 Home front/ARP, possibly a re-cast Britains

Oh this gets better, thanks Mike. I have never actually used RTV, but yes I have made plaster moulds, with a fair bit of success too! You have given me plenty to search for, and I am sure I will find the maker, colour scheme too with any luck. I like the Firemen figures, wish I could find some...

    54mm ID required please. WW2 Home front/ARP, possibly a re-cast Britains

Mike you have done brilliant! I suppose we will never know exactly what colours were used, but I will be doing something fairly accurate. I may even get some RTV & make a few more, all in different guises of course. Thanks again. :salute::

    54mm ID required please. WW2 Home front/ARP, possibly a re-cast Britains

Thanks for the help Gents. I agree with Mike about someone being ticketed, probably for showing a light, but the helmet is blue. This is the same as the gas-mask haversack, which is a military issue, but civilians normally wear them over one shoulder, not on the chest. The clothing looks...

    54mm ID required please. WW2 Home front/ARP, possibly a re-cast Britains

I bought this recently, obviously a solid re-cast, but does anyone know who made the original? I am thinking of repainting the Gas mask Haversack, plus the helmet.
