    Waterloo 1815

This is simply outstanding, especially the arrangement of the figures and the great attention to details. It really brings the scenes to life. Already looking forward to tomorrow!

    AeroArt D93 Viking Diorama

Based on what I remember from studying the Vikings at university the consensus is indeed that helmets with horns were ceremonial.:) The star of David looks like a modern idea as well. Having said that, there are some very fascinating symbols on runestones and similar monuments in Scandinavia...

What Toy Soldier items Have You Acquired in The Last 2 Weeks ?

The latest additions for me are most of Britains' releases of the British 44th regiment of Foot of the Napoleonic era. Due to computer problems I am unable to share photos, but I'm hoping to get a new one soon and then hopefully I'll be able to show more of my growing collection.

    Armies of the Napoleonic Wars

Another great scene. This thread is quickly becoming a favourite because you show so many different sides from the Napoleonic Wars.

What eras do you collect and why?

I begun collecting glossy ceremonial figures by Britain due to an interest in events like coronations. Then, about a year ago, I also started buying figures from the Napoleonic era. I have become extremely interested in this particular era ever since I started teaching a unit on it. When I...

    Boxed or open dio's

This idea is awesome, especially for me since I have very little space to set up figures and create scenes. Thank you for the suggestion. It's already given me some ideas of what I can do with the little collection I have.:)

For the past few days I've been reading Fighting techniques of the early modern world 1500-1763: Equipment, Combat Skills and Tactics. The book provides a nice overview of infantry, cavalry, sieges and naval warfare with a focus on strategy and technological developments. The best part is the...

The Century Trilogy - Ken Follet

I second that. I read the first book about a year ago and could not put it down. It is certainly not great literature but it gives an idea of how societies changed because of the first World War. It is quite amusing how every single character ends up experiencing very significant historical...

Encouraging New Blood into the Hobbie.

I've only been collecting for six months now and what really helped me take the first step was realising that it is possible to buy one figure at the time rather than sets. My budget is very tight (and so is space), but in a way it helps me find more creative solutions.

Delivering the First Aid supplies - Sudan 1885

Great set and set up! Always interesting and fun to see dioramas of theatres of war from other areas than Europe.:smile2:

    Matte to Glossy

I'm another fan of glossies and I have greatly enjoyed the pictures:). In general, I prefer figures in gloss finish to those in matte, especially if I see them on their own. However, context seems to play a part. Matte figures look great in a diorama that tries to capture a realistic scene...
