If you like historical epics in which the fictional characters are present at every major event in history, this is worth a read. The first two books have been released in this trilogy. The first, "The Fall of Giants" begins just prior to WWI and extends through the war. The second, "Winter of the World" begins in the years before WWII and covers that period. Not great literature, but entertaining to read.

I second that. I read the first book about a year ago and could not put it down. It is certainly not great literature but it gives an idea of how societies changed because of the first World War.

It is quite amusing how every single character ends up experiencing very significant historical moments.:)

I loved these books (both the Pillars series and the Century trilogy). Award winning literature, maybe not, but Follett is truly a master story teller
