    The Battle of Medak Pocket

Thanks for posting that. I had heard about that battle but never got good info about Canadian involvement in their role as UN Peacekeepers.

Are we any nearer to getting new stock?

Why would you sell the figures if you liked them enough to buy them in the first place? Even if the company released no other figures or went out of business, that doesn't take away from the figures that it has already produced.

    Cnn "1968"

Wow. You participated in anti-war protests and now you collect toy soldiers. Kinda interesting. I am saying that as an observation, not as any judgement on you.

    Black Robe (1991)

I remember that film. I really liked it because it covered a period not often seen on film (I can't think of another film of a similar subject matter) I think I recorded it off cable onto a DVD.

New Releases for March 2018 - The 18th Century Collection Drums Along the Mohawk

I read the book in 5th grade as a class assignment and loved it (most of the other kids didn't care for it). I also read it a few times as an adult, as well as saw the movie.

2018 Texas Toy Soldier Show Flyer

Thanks everyone. I have never been to a toy soldier show and only collect sporadically. Most of my toy soldiers are Britains left over from childhood. I think I may give this show a try.

2018 Texas Toy Soldier Show Flyer

I've never been to a toy soldier show and I live in Dallas. This should make it a 4-5 hour drive (depending on Traffic). Even though I don't know anyone I am thinking of attending. About how many square feet is it and how many tables? Is it really a two-day event? thanks

Shiite militia captured M1 Abrams tanks

We supplied the tanks as well as a host of other weapons to the Iraqi army. In this particular case someone captured the tanks from the Iraqi army or the Iraqi army abandoned them wherever they were using them in order to escape and evade on foot.

    STG44's collection

That is a great castle and you have a wonderful wife to have bought it for you. I know what you mean about the money and space involved in collecting toy castles. Most of my toy soldiers are packed away due to space limitations and because I have pets. I have exactly one ledge on a bookshelf...

    STG44's collection

Oops, I do have Hickling's book. That is the book I was referring to where I found the name of the Gee Bee castle/fort . I looked in the bookcase and saw Schiffer on the binding and thought that was the author's name, although it turns out it is the publisher's name. I looked in the book and...

    Elastolin collectors

Asterix, Yes, I grew up in NYC in the 1960s and 1970s. You can take digital pictures and attach them to your posts. You may need a program like Microsoft paint to edit the pictures down to no more than 1500 pixels wide and high (I think that is the right term for it). Katana, That is...

    Elastolin collectors

Here are some Elastolin German figures that I did not post with my others. These were given to me by an older relative when he was 25-30 and I was 9. They were left over from his childhood. They are composite figures, while I prefer plastic. The plastic are more durable and are not as bulky...

    STG44's collection

Asterix , The Castle was made by a a company called Gee Bee. I bought a book called Toy Forts and Castles by Schiffer and found it, then I managed to find one on Ebay in the UK and bought it and had it shipped to the US. I had it as a kid and was feeling nostalgic. I think it cost $16.00 on...

    Elastolin collectors

That store was Rapaport's. They had a wall sized case full of Elastolin & Britains that was to your left when you came in the door. I bought an Elastolin/Hausser Castle from Polks, as well as some Britains and some dinky tanks and Corgi cars. Ahhh, the memories. When I was a kid and life...

    Elastolin collectors

Was this store Polks Hobby Shop, by any chance? I had a few Elastolin as a child in the 1970s. In the 1990s I discovered Ebay and looked through various categories of toy soldiers and found out exactly what I had. I still had most of my soldiers carefully boxed up and well-preserved. I...

    STG44's collection

Here is a picture of a Britain's daimler scout car and a Land Rover next to some soldiers. Though labelled 1/32 scale, the vehicles seem to my eye to be a tad smaller when compared to 1/32 figures. Interestingly, the crews of these vehicles seem a bit smaller than 1/32 scale. This is...
